Best Value for the Low Roller!!

    by

I've stayed here 3 times in 2 years. The first time I got a low $35 rate on expedia which The Orleans matched. The 2nd time, they gave me a free room, $100 in gambling and $50 in food. The 3rd trip was comped too, including $150 comp gambling and $50 in food, including room service. This is simply the best casino for a low roller! With just a few hundred in play, you'll never pay for a room, food or drink. I Love It here!

The casino itself is Huge! Tons of machines, including nickle and penny games to choose from. Great restaurants on site, as well as movie theaters and a bowling alley. You never have to leave! There is even a liquor store inside the casino with better prices than my local grocery store. Taking booze up to your room is encouraged : )

The rooms are larger than normal and the room service menu is extensive, plenty of choices. The prices are moderate and the portions are humongous! I always have plenty left over.

Give The Orleans a try. You can't go wrong!

Unique Quality: Great comp program, even low rollers get lots of freebies. Huge facilities with everything on-site a visitor might need. Friendly, courteous staff. Large, clean rooms at a bargain price.

Directions: West of the strip on Tropicana.

  • Excellent Accomodations

    by

Stayed from Saturday to the next Friday and had a fantastic time. The rooms are large and fully furnished. The maid service is excellent. If you need a refrigrator for medicine it is furnished free but if you need it for other reasons it will cost you. There is also a shuttle that will take you to the other hotels on the strip. There are many restaurants in the hotel itself and the food was excellent. The varieties were very good and there is not much you can't get. Full course meals to sandwiches it is there. Big Al's alligator bar is one of my favorites for oysters of most any kind. Give it a try and you won't be dissappointed?
    Old Goat

Unique Quality: They have everything under the one roof!

  • Ok for off the strip

    by

The rooms are nice, food ok, casino busy and not the nicest -- didn't have much luck in ANY of the casinos though! This place is ok if you want to spend as little as possible, we got a good deal for hotel and airfare. Otherwise I would rather stay on the strip.

Unique Quality: rooms are nice and big and a great bathroom.

    I really enjoy this place

    by

Rooms are nice and big. A cool sliding door into the bathroom with a unique window in bathroom. Room service was efficient. Front desk was very courteous. Many restaurants that are good. The casino is layed out nicely, it feels spacious and I feel I have room to move around. The bars in the casino are easy to get to, so you can get a drink easily and fast.

Unique Quality: I like the feel of this place. I have stayed here and even when I do not stay, I will come over here and gamble, have dinner and a cocktail. I highly reccomend this hotel.

Great in every way but one....

    by

This is probably the best resort I've stayed at in all my trips to Vegas. Check-in was fast and the service was friendly. The rooms are huge with nice couches and comfortable beds (and a small window in the bathroom that you can look out onto the rest of the property). The casino is massive with a wide selection of machines and table games with some decent minimum limits. Plenty of good restaurants to try out. The one drawback is that this is off strip. There are shuttles that go to the Gold Coast and Barbary Coast, but they stop running around midnight, so you either have to take a cab or get on the last shuttle before it turns into a pumpkin.

    An outstanding property.

Unique Quality: A pretty clean and uncrowded pool area. They also have a monsterous (70 lane) bowling alley which was in great condition and fairly priced. There's a movie theater on site as well, so there's plenty to do if you want to take a break from the tables.

Directions: Well west of the Strip

    Great entertainment....basic accomodation

    by

This casino has a great slot club, tailored mainly for the locals, plus many times throughout the day offer double points for play.

If I lived in Las Vegas, I would probably visit this property more than the others i've mentioned. However, as a tourist attraction, it doesn't offer a great deal.

Unique Quality: Great music, great 'oldies' groups, for an excellent price. If you're in your fifties, this is the place to come for entertainment.

Directions: a bit out of the way...take a taxi, or the shuttle from the Barbary Coast (free)

Orleans Hotel a great bargain

by LiLz about Orleans HOtel

The Orleans is a great hotel if you don't mind staying o couple miles off the strip. All of the rooms are mini suites, the staff is terrific and the reasonably priced food is tasty. The slots were loose and the dealers helpful. Weather didn't permit a trip to the pool but there's a nice fitmmess center, a business center, a bowling alley and a movie theater. They provide a free shuttle to the strip and an inexpensive airport shuttle.

Re: New Orleans

ou are going in jan. ou should enjo ouselves immensely. the weather will be fine. As an added bonus you will also have a very pleasent stay b/c no one will have arrived for the mardi gras cellebration at that time. You might want to look into staying there for mardi gras as it is something that should not be missed. Cheers and congrats.

I live about 250 miles from New Orleans. It will probably be cold. Our coldest weather is in January and Feburary. We do not have a lot of freezing weather. If it freezes over night it thaws during the day. If you are lucky it may be in the 50's. Our weather is not very dependable. I have known it to be in the mid 60's to 70's, but be prepared for cold. Just wear layers, that can be taken off or added if needed.

I hope you have good weather but January in NO (when I lived there) was usually cold and wet. In fact the high precipitation made it feel even colder than the actual temperature indicated.
