  • Our stay was comp here and thank god we didn't have to pay. The rooms were very small and run down. no soaps, no hair dyers. I wouldn't walk on the carpet bare foot. The toilet had those sanitary strips on it, but I still did NOT sit on toilet. They were however in the middle of a redecorating. The first night here I was scared to sleep in the bed. Very old and unclean. The 2nd night we stayed in a remodeled room. Remodel was about it. The bed was still bad. However I did walk barefoot on the carpet.

    The rooms all face the parking lot. They are not adjacent to the casino so it very loud with people walking by. The constant patrol of security did not put me at ease. Why is there so much security? I would NEVER walk to my room ALONE. The pool was even more run down. The water surprisingly was clear. That's all I am going give them on the pool.

    Now the casino on the other hand was very nice. They house loves to throw out comps. Good thing in my book. The staff are very very very pleasant (not the check-in counter. These people were rude as hell) They play is good. Best time is 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. I did won a 1,000 on the slots.
    Group that stays here mostly Seniors or Poor young adults. They give a lot FREEBIES.

    I will give them credit for the generosity and there friendliness.
    There is a little secret here..................There coffee shop has really good food for really cheap.
    I wouldn't stay here again or recommend it, however we do visit the casino on each trip.

  • I didn't stay there, but I love going there to eat their ribs and drink those big, cheap margaritas inside their casino...

    Monday morning I came into my office to discover a message on the machine. It was a client we had booked to stay at Westward Ho. He had asked us for the cheapest rate on the strip and was warned of it's ONE STAR status. He was calling to let us know that he checked out of the hotel in search of other accomodations. It has no ammenities of the other hotels. You get what you pay for...

    Many locals hang out at the "Westward Whore" as it is called by my friend's living in Vegas. That part of town has some pretty seedy characters around after dark, so the casino area can be a little rough, and be sure to keep your chips and cash close. I have heard that the name of this casino is synonymous with the type of ladies that frequent this hotel as well....

    I have heard that there are many plans in motion to improve Westward Ho, I'd like to see that happen...

  • The Westward Ho is pretty good, I have no complaints but I dont want fancy when I close my eyes. The casino is great, low minimums, good payouts. $1.00 Craps is always great for me.

    Check-in is very quick and easy. This is actually a huge motel - so your room may be quite a distance from the casino. It can feel pretty lonely walking to your room at times. The rooms themselves are very small and cramped, and are of cheap motel quality. Staff is pretty friendly. The pool area we saw was a small motel-style pool. The casino itself is a haven at this end of the strip for the low-roller. Plenty of low minimum tables and decent machines. Pass on eating at any of the in-house establishments.

    We stayed here because we like to try out different accomodations. This one will not be on our repeat list. Enjoy the casino, stay somewhere else unless you're desparate to save money.

    Update: The Ho has been torn down. I truly will miss the casino, which catered to the low-roller that I am.

    There was a unique smell coming from the sewage line they were cleaning in the motel area one afternoon.

  • We normally stay at the MGM Grand when we go to Vegas, but this time we were on a budget so we opted for the Westward Ho instead.
    It looks like the ghetto of the strip, but was in fact a pretty cool place. The rooms were about the same as any budget motel, which is fine since you hardly spend any time there anyway. After we had our fill of the nice, new, and EXPENSIVE casinos we headed back to the HO! and played 5 hours of blackjack on their $3 tables. We had fun, and caught a buzz for under $20. We have vowed to go back every time that we are in Vegas from now on.

    They always have $2 longnecks, which is arguably the best deal on the strip, as even the "free" drinks you get while gambling are extra small and watered way down.
    A word of caution however....stay away from the gigantic hotdog. Trust me.

    The price is right for those on a budget, but remeber, you get what you pay for. Its not near any of the big resort hotels, so its a pretty far walk to the south strip area (MGM, Excalibur, etc). The room was clean, but the furniture looked like it was 50 years old. Staff were very friendly at check in/check out.

    HUGE margaritas for 99 cents, and you can get an extra shot of tequila in it for $1. Also try the Mega Dog (or the Ho dog as some call it), I think its like $1.49 and its the biggest hot dog I've seen in my life, two people could eat this thing.
