SECURITY ALERT

Our APPLE MAC BOOK PRO 17 disappeared between the limo and the next day in our room. Our bags were in the care of the resort staff for 37 mins giving ample time to inventory the contents. This was the only time our bags were out of our sight. We were told by security that the police would not come out for a thief under $2500.00. Ours was $2259.00 and to file a report we would have to go to the police on our own. The police department is located at City Hall, a $50.00 round trip cab ride. THANKS WYNDHAM. Upon filing the police report we were informed that they would have come out for $200.00 and Wyndham was trying to protect their image. They could have processed the crime scene and reviewed the resort videos to make a REAL attempt at solving the crime. After being misinformed by WYNDHAM security and MANAGEMENT we no longer have any faith in the company we have been owners with for more than 7 years. We feel betrayed and let down. NOW THAT'S SAD!!! The right things could have been done to keep us as HAPPY OWNERS and WYNDHAM AMBASSADORS but, they went the other way with falsehoods and untruths. We are in a LOSE LOSE situation we own and to get a ROI we must continue to stay at WYNDHAM resorts. We have stayed at many other WYNDHAM resorts over the years with FANTASTIC memories but, this stay has almost done us in....

Great Family Place

We stayed here our last visit and I can honestly say we really enjoyed this place. It is very family orientated. Our room to me was more like a 4.5 star hotel. Really nicely decorated and had all the luxuries anyone could need. Our view was simply awesome to say the least. Plus, it is close enough, yet far enough away from the strip if that makes sense?! You can walk to the strip with no problem. Plenty of free parking. Each tower has it own pool area, but over in the main pool area, they had happy hour for the adults...yay! Live entertainment and they have a wonderful game room for the kids with loads of activities. They have a mini cafeteria and a little general store. They even have an adult pool area, which was really relaxing and very quiet. I was really impressed with the service at the front desk and the concierge services. They were really helpful in finding some of the museums. Vegas is growing and changing and so do some of the locations of the activities, so it might be a good idea to check with the concierge desk first.

Located a mile from Las Vegas Boulevard at the famed Strip's center, puts you close to world-famous Vegas thrills, yet far enough away to savor family-friendly fun, too. If you like active vacations, this modern, high-energy resort has a big choice of recreational amenities to make your Las Vegas stay a guaranteed winner.

Viva la fun..Viva Las Vegas, baby.

Fairfield Resort was a loverly experience. Tres chic! Within walking distance from the strip, if you are so inclined :)

Unique Quality: The Las Vegas Grand Desert resort, Fairfield's flagship Western property, features a 12-story tower with a food court and a 16-story tower that will include restaurant and retail space. Built in Italian Mediterranean style, the building's rich ochres and terra cottas reflect the warmth and serene beauty of the desert. The units themselves offer casual comfort and Mediterranean décor. All units will feature whirlpool tubs in the master suites, with special penthouse units over 2,400 square feet in size. Both buildings overlook the terraced central-amenities courtyard, which will feature a lap pool, a kiddie pool, a lagoon-style freeform pool, a spacious lawn and open deck spaces with outdoor seating. Amenities will include a multi-purpose room for social functions and a health club with exercise equipment, two massage rooms and a sauna.

A Perfect 10

by TripAdvisor Member 266schultz

This was just the perfect place all around!
It was like having your own apt. fully stocked and ready to go! I will never stay in a Hotel in Vegas!
This is a timeshare but were never bothered about buying into it! Kinda wish we were asked.
Very much enjoyed a week at the Fairfield Grand Desert Resort!

What a super place

by A TripAdvisor Member

We arrived on 10/01/04 and were quickly given an upgrade. The place was beautiful and about 4 blocks from the strip. The walk wasn't so bad. A shuttle picks you up every 15 min. in the front and brings you to Harrah's. There is a shuttle at Harrah's that will bring you to the Rio. The Rio has the best buffets and nightlife. The hotel has 2 large pools and jacuzzi's. We had a blast and if we were too tired to walk we got a cab for 5-6 dollars for 3 of us. Better than renting a car. We have stayed on the strip and I think this is better. Everyday soda and popcorn are free. The rooms were big and clean!!!!!!Definitely would stay here next time. Never even hassled us with time share. Everybody was very helpful and friendly to us. It was a home away from home for us.

All our family just love it

We stayed in this Hotel last weekend. We had two bedroom suite for 4 people. Enjoyed the activities, pool, free food and our suite as well. Very family oriented, nice and quite. We'll defiantly stay here again.

NOT a hotel

by A TripAdvisor Member

This was sthe worst experience I've had with a "hotel". I booked my reservation on lodging--- about three weeks in advance of my stay, the property was listed with other regular hotels. When I arrived on a busy Vegas weekend (there was a big fight and a Harley rally and everything in town was sold out), we waited in an enormous slow moving lobby line for over 30 minutes (after waiting 45 minutes for a cab at the airport). Finally someone came out and asked who in line was "renting". Nobody came forward because we didn't know what they were talking about. A little while later they asked again and I inquired back "What does that mean"? Turns out this is NOT a hotel but a timeshare property that tries to get a few extra bucks back by "renting" excess capacity and gambling (in true Vegas style) that their owners won't show up. We were told that the timshare owners get priority over "renters" and that they were oversold and we would be moved to another location. Our options were, get this, either the Clarion Suites or the Sahara, both very much sub-standard properties compared to this $180 a nite resort. We were sent to the Sahara (an old, smoky dumpy place where nothing worked in the room) and was still charged the full $360 to my credit card and no offers of reimbursement (STILL working on that). DO NOT stay here if you think a reservation meens a guaranteed room, you could be out on the street or in a low quality motel with no compensation for your trouble.

Loved the Fairfield

by TripAdvisor Member flytheskies

This is a great place to stay. The rooms and grounds were immaculate. We booked this place knowing this was a non-gaming property. The snack bar is good food for the money too, Breakfast and lunch only though, no other place to eat onsite. The average price is 5.95 to 9.95. The local pizza place will deliver to your door too. The giftshop has everything a person would need. We arrived extremely early for check-in, we gave our bags to the bellman and hit the street. We did not rent a car, which saved a ton of our money. If you don't mind the walk 1/2 mile to a mile to the strip, save your money. We walked everywhere. If we got tired, we got a cab ride back, 8.00 max for 5 people too!!! The resort offers a shuttle to Freemont Street (Downtown) every night at 6pm for 5.00 per person. Sign up for that the day before. There is no alcohol onsite, which keeps the noise to a minimum. However, we went to the 7/11 and brought ours back to the fridge, get cans so you can take it to the pools. Don't overpack your bags....There is a washer and dryer in the room with complimentary Tide. There are hairdryers, irons, too. The best kept secret in the area is Ellis Island Casino and Brewery....LOVE IT!!!! Good CHEAP food, GREAT TABLES FOR BLACKJACK and $1.00 beers at the bar. Takes about a 5 to 10 minute walk from the resort. Just ask the Bellman for directions. We had to checkout at 11am, but our flight didn't leave until 10:50pm, so we just gave our bags to the Bellman and went out for more sightseeing and gambling.... I just can't say enough for the resort. We will be back...Got any questions about it......Email me....

Viva Las Vegas!

"So This is Sin City..."

We were in Las Vegas for the recent Diamond Exchange Show that was held at the Venetian Hotel. It was my first time there, and I now know I'll be returning often---an actual fact, since we purchased a week at the Grand Desert Resort, located right off the strip and minutes from Harrah's! Part of the fun during our week there was that there was a big group of us--my husband, my 21 year old daughter and 18 year old son, and my sister-in-law and her husband who arrived the next day. We ended up "chunking" the big group, with some of us choosing some very different itineraries. This ensured everybody stayed happy! One word of caution--although he found enough to entertain him, my 18 year old son did grumble a bit...absolutely understandable. The prices for the Venetian (our number one choice) soared because of the jewelry show, so we opted for the Rio Hotel. I really recommend it. It was very pretty, with its festival theme, a great "in the sky" show that is complimentary, a sensational buffet, great restaurant, a medley of pools, well-appointed rooms, a gorgeous view (even with construction), and well-situated on the strip. Vegas is all shiny and sexy and just a bit tawdry...it is really a playground for adults. There are so many things to see and do that you will run out of days before you can experience it all. Guaranteed. This; however, is a great problem to have, given the solution is to escape out here again and again...my husband and I are already making plans for our next visit, probably before the year ends. (I'll be loading some pics very soon!)

Harrah's or Fairfeild Grand Desert?

by Kealoha

I realize the Grand Desert is located off the main strip (265 E. Harmon Ave.) but I like the 1-2 bdrm accomodations. Would it be better to stay on the strip at Harrah's?

Re: Harrah's or Fairfeild Grand Desert?

by Aye_Caramba

I stayed at Fairfield a few months ago and really liked it. The rooms are nice and large, and the entire place is barely a year old, so everything is still very new.
Every room has a kitchenette, dining room table, sofa sleeper and entertainment center. The bedrooms are normal size, but they are separate from the living rooms. The bathrooms are spacious, with tile floors, jacuzzi tubs and separate glass shower. Plus you get a washer/dryer in the closet.
There are two large pools and several hot tubs down on the main pool deck. You can also use the fitness center for free.
Of course, there are some drawbacks. There are no real restaurants in the hotel, (except for a walk-up deli). And no casino. And you are not within walking distance to anything else, unless you are willing to walk a mile or two. The Fairfield does provide a free shuttle to Harrah's, however.
They are aggressively trying to sell the Fairfield as a timeshare right now, so the place is always crowded with salesmen walking around with prospective owners/families. Not a big deal, but if you are really trying to "escape" it may not be the best place.

Bottom line, if you are going for the "real Vegas experience," then stay on the strip. If you want a nice big room and clean, new hotel, then stay at Fairfield. If you surf around to some of the wholesale hotel websites you can really find some deals. We got a 1-bedroom suite for $95/nite on the weekend, and when we got there, they upgraded us to a 2-bedroom suite for free, had to be about the best deal in town.

When do you plan on making your trip? If you haven't made it yet, I might be able to assist you with your stay at Harrah's. Feel free to ask any questions if you have any.
