Horizon Casino Resort
Possibly the cheapest Casino room at South Lake
We stayed at the Horizon for three nights in January, 2008. We paid $46/night total through CheapTickets.com for a room with a king bed on the tenth floor with a nice view of the moutains including the Heavenly ski resort lifts. Room was on the large size, appeared fairly recently remodeled, came with standard bath ammenities, hair dryer, cable TV w/o any premium channels, small table w/two chairs, and a makeup vanity. Bed was comfortable but not fantastic. There was no coffee making equipment but when we enquired at the front desk, they sent up a coffee maker w/coffee packets and tea at no fee. Bath was rather small. Room was clean, staff was courteous. Wireless internet is only free in the lobby. There is a charge for in room use. Over all, a very pleasant stay.
We were charged an extra $5/day "resort" fee which seemed a bit crass. Listed "resort" privileges included a free newspaper daily, free bottled water daily (which was never replaced after first day), valet parking (always free at any Nevada casino we have ever stayed at), and free use of the fitness room (quite small) and pool/hot tub (??? what? ???, the pool was closed and the hot tub was hardly anything special) Evidently they felt the need to justify asking us for the additional $5/day over what we had prepaid for. When I emailed Cheaptickets repeatedly, enquiring about this "resort" fee, they never responded. Not a good way to retain customer loyalty.
Regardless, this was a very good price to pay for a three star room in the South Lake Tahoe area and we would stay there again at this price. I hope the comments about the resort fee does not sound too negative, but it was a unexpected surprise.
Unique Quality: Casino, Multiplex movie theatre on premises.
Nice Swimming Pool
I like the layout of this hotel. Nice conference area. Long casino that would be easy to find your way around in.
Unique Quality: Waterfall in the pool. It's pretty.
