Historic New England Charm
This a such beautiful, old inn. The main building was built in 1649 and still has most of its original millwork. Their second building, a converted carriage house, was built in the late 1700s. I stayed here on business recently and was very impressed by how friendly the staff were and the authentic, historic atmosphere of the place.
The inn has 23 rooms, all of them with private baths and huge, romantic four-poster beds that you need a step stool to get into. All the rooms have wireless internet and are individually decorated with antiques and Georgian-style furniture so that no two of them are exactly alike.
The inn's gardens abut the Oyster River, which is really scenic and lovely. There's also a 17th century burial ground on the property.
One of the best things about Three Chimneys is their ffrost Sawyer Tavern, which serves high-end, New England-style food and has a nice cozy bar where you can sip drinks by the fireplace.
The Inn is a mile away from the University of New Hampshire.
Highly recommended!
