Wow. Mosquitos and black flies in New Hampshire are thick. The beautiful green countryside hides armies of bloodsuckers. Definitely carry bug spray(or Avon Skin So Soft - local secret, keeps most bugs away). If you stay in central Manchester, the abundant pavement provides relief, but any forays outside Manchester at night will be thick with buzzing little predators.
The tiny Fitts Museum is housed in a 18th century Federalist-style home on Candia's old town center. The museum's hours are sporadic(seasonal and weekends only), but it has drawn new attention for it's Civil War exhibits(musket firings and all), and living history events. The old town center has been eclipsed in importance by the tacky "Four Corners", nearby. But, it remains a charming, picture perfect example of New Hampshire colonial architecture. This "bedroom community" lies twelve miles East of Manchester
Manchester, NH, a major mill town of the late 1800's. The largest city in New Hampshire has many large mill buildings lining the Merrimack River. These former woolen and cotton mills are now being used by the industries of today.
