COMING UP FOR A VISIT - December, 2005

by HOOPII

Hello all. I would like to know if anyone can direct me to some photos/pictures of the Kangamangus Highway? My family and I are coming back up for a visit in December, 2005 and I would like to show those who eithr don't remember or who have never been there what a Beautiful Site it is. Our plans are to visit North Conway, White Mountains and nearby small towns.
Any information you can get to me would be gratefully appreciated..
Thanks

Go to Google Images and type in Kangamangus Highway. There's lots of pics.

There are variant spellings, including Kancamaugus and Kancamagus.

Here's a recent article on exploring the pass; the article begins on page 14 (you can move to that page without scrolling all the way down using a button at the bottom). You need Adobe or another reader to open it, though:

Cheers.

That route is also in the book, "America's Most Scenic Drives", available at Borders or Barnes & Nobles. It's published, I believe, by AAA.

Travel Tips for North Conway

Great Spot to View the Fall Foliage

by RhondaRuth

The traffic might be awful most of the time but there are great views to see as you crawl thru town. Of course the Fall colors up here are beautiful and if you get tired of looking at all that beauty? Stop and Shop! Viewing the Mountains, Fall Colors, Sightseeing and Shopping!

The mighty Tuckerman's Ravine

by Bela_LUng

Go to Mr. Washington, park you car and head up he trails to Tuckerman's Ravine. This has got to be the best skiing on the east coast. It may take up to 4 hours to climb up to the bowl, but once up there you will be rewarded with some great snow, year round, and some steep hills to ski.

Be very cautious though as the hills are steep and the snow tends to be corn snow, a bit heavier then usual, and thus the risk is higher then at a usual hill. Theree is no grooming either - so what you see is what you get, rocks included. Be safe and you'll live to tell the tale of an awesome ski hill. Be dumb and you could be come one of many who lose their lifes every year.

Tuck's is an awesome place to ski and if you are serious about skiing then do this pilgramage at least once in your life. But be safe and make sure to tell the story.

WARNING: when you hike up the mountain, as soon as you see clouds forming on the peak, get the F down the moutain as soon as possible. Mt. Washington has some nasty weather and many have died due to ignoring those clouds. Don't be a statistics. You don't get that many chicks.

New Albany Covered Bridge on Kanc. Highway

by Krumlovgirl

" New Albany Bridge "

This bridge is located on the Kancamagus Highway. There is also a hiking trail and a fishing pier close to it. Just remember that you need a parking pass if you plan on doing any extended walking around in the area.
