Hi,

My aunt and uncle live near Atlantic City. They emailed me this, which might help:

" There was a black woman without arms and legs that was on the Atlantic City boardwalk, that played a small organ with her tongue. I think her name was Ruby, but I am not positive. I think she died a couple of years ago. She supported her kids by playing the organ. There was an arcticle about her in the paper, but I do not remember how long ago that was."

thank you for the link.... that was very inspirational... i recall in the Bible that Jesus commended this poor lady for giving just a penny but gave her all... and to her husband, kudos to him too, talk about unconditional love...

Travel Tips for Atlantic City

The best thing about Atlantic...

by Nomad_2001

The best thing about Atlantic City is the casinos and nightlife. You MUST indulge!!! If you don't want to enjoy the casinos (and/or shows) then Atlantic City will probably NOT be the right place for you. Winning $5,000 in an evening of blackjack, roulette and craps after starting my crusade with only $500! (I must comment that this fondest memory was short-lived, since over the course of the rest of my 3-day adventure, I spent and gambled the rest away PLUS an additional $500!!!)

Tipping in Casinos

by machomikemd

Gambling and the Dealers – if I’m winning and the dealer is making my experience enjoyable I tip. If they are bothered with the thought of conversation I don’t. Some dealers will keep an eye on you and help you get as close to winning as possible. That I tip. Others, act as if they cannot ever suggest anything to the player. There, I do not tip. You can tip during the action or you can tip as you leave the table, that is entirely up to you.

Poker Dealers – If you win a pot send a chip over to the dealer. They deal the cards and they have to put up with abuse from the players, A good dealer can split pots and keep the game going while a bad dealer can let things get out of control.

Taxi –$2 is customary below fifteen dollars.
Shuttle drivers - 50 cents to $1.00 for 1-4 in your party
Bellmen - 2 dollars per bag up to about ten or twelve dollars.
Room Service - 15-20%
Restaurant Waiters - 15-20%
Buffet - $1 per person is nice

Playing Table Games

by penumbra

Although slots make up about 60% of a casino’s revenue, table games make up most of the rest. These are games where there is a human dealer and often you are playing in a game with several other players. The basics rules of the games are straight forward but there are many strategies that can be employed. Arm yourself by doing some research to completely understand the rules of the game and come prepared with your own strategy. The following are some web sites that may help you get started:

Baccarat , Blackjack ,
Caribbean Stud Poker , Craps , Roulette .

Things to help make your trip the best.....

When you are in the casinos, always keep your pocketbook in your lap. As with any place, being careful, not careless, is always the smart thing to do. Bring a sweater even in the summer, the ocean keeps us 10 degrees cooler than inland. Also, avoid dark clothing in the months of June and August. We have a biting fly called a Greenhead (can you guess why?) that really hurts when it bites. Always bring sunscreen, and don't forget that the humidity here can be killer if you aren't used to it. Some of the newer venues in the city require you to be dressed nicely in order to enter, which means no jeans or sneakers, but you don't have to wear a suit to fit in. We have many fine examples of architecture, not just casinos and many nature areas to get excellent pictures of. Our birding areas are second to none. Don't forget some really amazing sunrises and sunsets too! There are campgrounds located a few miles outside the city if you wish to camp. We have many parks to visit. The beach in AC is free, unlike the surrounding citys, so bring the cooler, your towel and umbrella and enjoy. There are lifeguards on our beaches until 5 pm. for your safety. Please don't swim alone here, the rip tides can be dangerous unless you know what to do.

Cheap Banana Clothing from last season

by Gypsystravels about Banana Republic

Another outlet outpost of the actual store, but at least this store seemed more to pace with the regular items sold at their signature stores.

The store wasn't big and they didn't have too much of a selection, but some of the items they had were fashionable and still trendy even though they may have been last year's line.

We walked around the store and Alice found a really cute pair of low heeled open toe shoes, I found a really nice sweater top and some really nice jewelry. They had a selection of women and men's clothing, as well as accessories. The prices were slashed about 50% off their original price. My top cost $38 Alice paid about $45 for the shoes and the jewelry was about $8.
