Bachellorette Party

by Tifferoo2006

Hi, myself and a group of girls are thorwing an bachellorete party and plan to spend a night in AC... All of the other girls are 21 and over, but I am only 19. I was wondering if anyone knew the rules about what I would be able to get into and if there are any clubs or nice places to go that I would be able to get into. I'd really appreciate any responses! Thank you!!
If anyone knows any decent and cheap hotels near the beach that would be great too!!

Hi!
First off, just be careful because NJ (and Atlantic City in particular) is very strict about IDs. So don't try to sneak in anywhere, you could lose your license and get fined. Be careful about staying off the casino floors, too. They serve alcohol to anyone gambling so you need to be 21 to even walk through. There are paths around the sides of most so you can get from one end to the other.

As for under 21 ideas...
The House of Blues has shows some weekends that are sometimes 18 to get in. The Atlantic City Weekly (www.whoot.com) will have show schedules and let you know what the age restrictions are.

At the Tropicana, you can go to RiRa's where they have entertainment some nights. It's also a restaurant so if you're at a table. Also at the Tropicana are Hooters and Tangos Piano Bar which would probably let you stay.

I'm pretty sure the Eden Bar at Harrah's checks ID and gives out bracelets, so you can go in and order non-alcoholic drinks.

Check out some of the comedy clubs, they may be accommodating as well.

And of course there is always plenty of shopping which no one is ever too young for :). Have fun!

Travel Tips for Atlantic City

The Boardwalk

by KaiM

Talk a walk on the boardwalk. It´s a wooden boulevard between the hotel casinos and the beach. Street artists, musicians and tourists make this car-free zone a fun place. It is a mixture of Las Vegas and a typical tourist beach resort with souvenir shops and small fast food shops.

If its not to hard, walk the boardwalk from one end to the other, or take a ride. I did this and was pretty impressed with what I saw. This picture was taken from a pretty high location. The scene is magnificient. It's looking south down the beach and boardwalk area.

by VodkaGimlet

Tip your chauffeur & food server 20%. Doormen & bellmen, if the help you with your bags, tip between 50 cents and $1 a bag. Tip your dealer on occassion, you can just give it to him or place a bet for him. NOTE: DO NOT HAND THE DEALER ANYTHING, YOU MUST PLACE MONEY/CHIPS/MATCHES/ANYTHING ON THE TABLE AND THE DEALER WILL PICK IT UP FROM THE TABLE. Bartenders/cocktail servers between 50 cents and $1 a drink, but at least leave a buck. If you win a jackpot on a slot machine it is customary to give your slot attendant ( the one counting your winnings into your hand) a tip. Base the tip on how much you have won. A good tip is about $10 for a small jackpot. You can also tip the person accompanying the slot attendant who is usually a securiy guard. For Maids between $1 to $2 a day per person unless you are really messy. Of course you can tip more for great service or nothing for lowsy service it's up to you.

A few items for a weekend getaway

by Gypsystravels

A small carry bag or roller board is all you really need unless you plan on spending weeks on end here. We usually spend a night or two and everything we take will fit in a small rollerboard. Depending on the season, but during the summer you can enjoy casual wear like summer dresses, shorts, skirts and tank tops for women and men usually wear jeans, khakis or shorts. Flips or low heeled sandals for walking on the boardwalk. Evening definitely wear something dressy, nice dresses or jeans with a pretty dressy top and heels for women, slacks or dressy jeans and dress shirts for men. I always carry my own toiletries like shampoo, conditioner, bath wash, bath cloth, toothpaste, body and moisturizer, contact lens solution, contact lenses, glasses, perfume, deodarant and a few other items. My camera and recorder My bathing suit, flip flops, beach bag, beach towel, suncreen It can get chilly at night during the summer and the casinos always have their air conditioning blasting, so a jacket or sweater, shawl, shrug or pashmina

Marine Mammal Stranding Center...

by feline01

Marine Mammal Stranding Center located in Brigantine, NJ on Brigantine Boulevard near the lighthouse. Take the Brigantine Bridge between Harrah's and Trump Castle and center will be on your left. The center is a non-profit rescue center that rescues, rehabilitates and release whales, seals, dolphins and turtles found on the NJ coastline. You might not expect to find stranded mammals in NJ but there were 118 stranded in 2001. We visited in July 2002 and got to see a 6 week old harbor seal. Talk about cute. Looked like a hairless version of my kitty (fat body, small head & big eyes). According to the volunteer, the center had already rescued 85 harbor seals since Jan. 2002. This seal was found stranded on a local beach. He was 2 weeks old and malnourished. Since being at the center, he had gained 50 lbs and was almost ready to be driven up to Massachusetts and released into a colony of harbor seals established there. Neat stuff.
