More about Saltwood House
Best B & B in Cape May!
by TripAdvisor Member beachbumsny
We have stayed at the Saltwood House for the last 7 years and would never stay anywhere else in Cape May! Our hosts, Don and Erik, are very friendly and accommodating. They always make us feel like family. Rooms are well decorated and comfortable. There are movies for guests to borrow and play on their private in-room TV/DVD players. Beach towels and chairs are provided. There is opportunity for afternoon get-togethers for socialization with Don and the other guests on the open, airy front porch. Location is excellent - one block from the beach in one direction and from town in the other on popular Jackson Street. Full breakfast is provided and is always excellent. Most guests return year after year and we look forward to seeing our Cape May friends every summer. You will never want to stay anywhere else in Cape May! We love the Saltwood House! Jeanette & Linda
Best B&B in Cape May

My husband and I have been returning to Saltwood House for the past seven years! We absolutely love it! It is a beautiful house with wonderful furnishings. But more importantly, Don and Erik do everything to make us comfortable and to feel at home. Early morning coffee followed by delicious breakfasts, particularly Don's wonderful "Cape May French Toast." They say location is everything, and this place is 1/2 block from the beach. We are so looking forward to our upcoming visit this August!

All our major vacations (England, Alaska,Grand Canyon) must be scheduled around our annual August trip to the Saltwood House in Victorian Cape May. It is like going home again. Don and Eric are gracious hosts who do all they can to make your trip pleasant and relaxed. Things like recommending restaurants, providing beach chairs and towels and always remembering our first names. Don even sends us a Christmas card! Guests try to schedule their trips so they'll be there for Don's scruptious French toast breakfasts. Our grown sons now try to stay there. One of the other Saltwood perks is on-site parking, which most B&B's don't provide. Nothing like having your car garaged for your vacation (for the new visitors you don't need your car in intimate Cape May - you can walk or bike anywhere.) The Saltwood House - only four units- is immaculately appointed with coral-colored shutters and awnings and beautiful antiques throughout. Another special trip is the Saltwood and Cape May at Christmastime. In fact, Cape May is great anytime.
The Gem of Cape May

Everyone should experience the warm hospitality that Don & Eric
bestow on their guests. The breakfasts are delicious! The inn is immaculate and the location is great. After visiting there for about a dozen or so times and each one surpassing the last we think we have found THE GEM OF CAPE MAY and recommend it to anyone looking for a Cape May getaway.
A PLACE THAT HAS BECOME PART OF OUR LIFE

We have stayed at the Saltwood House for over five consecutive years. The property is impeccable and so tastefully decorated it should be featured in a magazine.
Every care is given to detail. You are guest, but you feel like a member of a very exclusive group. I wouldn't go anywhere else in Cape May.
The Saltwood House is a tradition which we hope to have for many years to come.
Our favorite bed and breakfast...we love it there.
by TripAdvisor Member LeePunxsy
The Saltwood House is our favorite bed and breakfast. It is charming and on a great street in which you can sit on the porch and people watch. The beach is 1/2 block away and if you stay on the top floor you can see the ocean. Breakfast is always superb. The house is gorgeous, decorated very tastefully, and very well taken care of by the owner and his employee.

Impressive Saltwood House
by TripAdvisor Member HarrisburgTourist
During a brief stop on a tour of Cape May one fall weekend, my husband and I visited the Saltwood House. I knew that I wanted to vacation at this inn from the moment we entered the parlor and heard innkeeper, Don Schweikert, speak about the history and mystic of the house. Decorated entirely with antiques, this bed and breakfast, in the heart of Cape May, is the epitome of Victorian charm. Each morning, we were greeted by either Don or Eric Struky or both with a delicious homemade breakfast. Our hosts were always available to help with dinner or entertainment decisions or just to sit and chat on the porch where we often just relaxed and watched people pass by on their way to the beach or Washington Mall to shop. We have toured many other B and B's in Cape May, but none offer the hospitality or personal touch of Saltwood House. We are returning for the third time this June and have no desire to stay anywhere else.
Wrapped in cool cummer breezes, an oasis at the beach
by TripAdvisor Member HappyDrummer
The owner/host of this tranquil location has achieved a perfect restoration of this turn-of-the century house, while at the same time offering an immaculate, bright and sea-breeze infused atmosphere. All the modern comforts, including refrigerators, DVD players and good movies on loan, great beds and linens and air conditioning blend well with the gorgeous anqitue pieces and concierge-infused charm of both owner and staff alike. You are a block from the beach and a block from the walking mall, and the block itself is the most quaint in town! Parking on site is an unusual option this close to the beach. The beautiful home's signature salmon bisque shutters hint at what is in store -- a unique destination of class and comfort. The owner/host, Don Schweikert, and Erik on his staff , share a willingness to make your visit everything you want it to be. I have stayed here since it opened, and return every year (missing only due to illness in family!). What a find! Gorgeous home with lovely anqitues which offers at the same time the airy and spacious feel of a place so near the ocean.
Great Place

We have been staying at Saltwood House for many years. We started out at another bed and breakfast , but then we found Saltwood house and have been staying there ever since. For many years we stayed in their Saratoga room, which is very nice, private bath too. Now we started staying in the Newport suite, it has bedroom, bath , and a living room, just love it.
The owner, Don is a great person, and his associate, Erik is a great person too. They are very accomidating . Anything we could want is there for us to use and they are full of information about what is happening in the area for the time we are there.
The breakfast is excellent. Everyday there is something new. We look forward to coming down to breakfast and see what Don or Erik has made for us. Whatever it is we know it is great.
The location is perfect. It right on Jackson Street, which is the historic part of Cape May. Once you park your car (off street parking on Don's property, behind his house ) you don't have to drive anywhere, because all shopping and restruants are within walking distance. Great deal with the price of gas!
Last year Don decided to drop the afternoon tea. We do miss that, because we used to get together and talk to everyone and find out what there day has been like and where they had plans for dinner, just sit on the great peach colored porch and hang out with everyone before we went off to dinner. Even without that , this is still a great place to come and stay .
So if you are looking for a great place to stay in Cape May, go to the Saltwood house........great people ....great food .....very clean.....a block from the ocean. What more could you want?
