A Local Custom of the Past: The Latin Casino
by ExGuyParis
A great nightclub-- all the stars were there: Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Junior, Tom Jones, Tiny Tim... and THE SUPREMES. Here, my mother and I wait for the arrival onstage of Mary Wilson, Florence Ballard, and Diana Ross-- November 2, 1965.
It was a tragic day when they tore down this magical place and built an office.
Was I a geek or what?
CHERRY HILL-SOUTH JERSEY'S GATEWAY TO PHILA.
by Rhondaj
Cherry Hill is true South Jersey's biggest town, dare I call it a city?
It holds the largest mall around, many restaurants, the Garden State Racetrack (closed down in 2001!), hotels with convention facilities, and strip after strip of shopping centers. I don't know if any circles are left, most have been reroaded, since circles are probably where road rage first reared its ugly head. Cherry Hill's Rt. 70 can take you right into Philadelphia quite easily. Work traffic going into and out of the city, and weekend traffic is a pure horror though.
