Travel Tips for Frenchtown

Ride on the Rail Trail

by marca

Frenchtown makes a good start for a ride on the Rail trail which runs along the river. The bed is level but it is not paved(packed cinders). I have been on this trail many times using a road bike with wider tires with no problem. Road bikers may want to ride on Route 29 and go south of town. This is a level road with wide shoulders. If you do not have your own bike with you, good rentals are available at the Cycle Corner bike shop in town. Most of the ride will be in the shade with a view of the Delaware River. Good family ride. Bring water, snacks and a spare tube. There are no services until Bull's Island Park and then again in the town of Stockton.

Frenchtown is a small river town with some old (very old) buildings housing shops and restaurants. I usually visit to ride on the rail trail that goes through town. If you do not have a bike you can rent one at the bike shop downtown.
