Travel Tips for Glassboro

Nothing to do at 2 am???

by asturnut

Glassboro has one of the nicest Shoprites in south Jersey. Whenever I got bored, that's where I went. (Isn't that pathetic?) They have a really good food court at the entrance of the store-- best thing is the antipasto. Yum

asturnut's Rowan University/Glassboro, NJ

by asturnut

Glassboro a pretty typical south Jersey town in all respects except for the fact that it is the home of my alma mater Rowan University (aka Rowan College, Glassboro College, NJ State Teacher's College, etc.) You would think that a town that has a school the size of Rowan would have a lot to offer, but it doesn't. Aside from the Glassboro Center for the Arts, located on Rowan's campus, there isn't much to do except get in trouble. And unfortunately, because of the budget crisis in NJ, our lousy govenor cut funding to our school and the Center for the Arts is being eliminated. This is the last year that the Center for the Arts will host such world-renowned groups as the Moscow Ballet... sigh... so it goes.

The one and only anchor on Main Street- Angelo's Diner. Is a fixture on Main Street and an institution in Glassboro. Angelo's is exactly as it has always been and always will be and it's the locals last foothold... mwa ha ha! It's sort of a sad testament of how, for the most part, Glassboro is still stuck in it's small-town mentality. The University and the local residents are completely at odds with one another. Rather than capitalize on having an up and coming University in town, the town of Glassboro resists change and progress just for the sake of defying anything that could be linked with the University.

Rowan Hall

by asturnut

Rowan Hall is the 2nd newest building on the Rowan University campus. From the front the building is an ugly concrete monster, but from the back and sides it has a whole different appeal. The lake goes right up to the steps at the back of the building.
