More about Doubletree Club Jersey City

perfect stay for a perfect price

by TripAdvisor Member guest239

We have just returned from our 9-day-stay at the Doubletree Hotel in Jersey City. It is a great location for a perfect price to visit the NYC area. Due to such good recommendations at tripadvisor, we took some risk and booked online fully prepaid with 15% discount, but no refund. The room was really big, the room service great, the restaurant very good! We are sure to stay at that hotel again!

Great Value

by TripAdvisor Member Shell07

This hotel was amazing value in comparison to the hotel rates in manhattan.

The hotel is less than 5 mins walk to the nearest tube station which is one or two stops away from Manhattan (tube is 24 hours). The tube (known as the PATH) costs $1.50 each way - super cheap. Should you not wish to take the PATH then there is also a ferry service which is thoroughly enjoyable with spectacular views.

The room we had overlooked the river hudson with an amazing view of manhattan both in the daytime and at night. It was worth the stay just for the view!! The staff were helpful and the rooms extremely clean, well decorated and spacious.

Would definately return.

Loved this HOTEL! Super STAY!!!

Room is beautiful. Restaurant is very good too. Front desk is very helpful and friendly. The van driver, Mr. Morales is the nicest guy. You will love the location. I would go back there in a heartbeat.
Even their chocolate chip cookies were warm!

Excellent Hotel.

Wow. This has got to be one of the best hotels to stay when you visit manhatten. It is just across from the New Port shopping mall and the Path train. Easy access to WTC and central manhatten. Very quiet but has great shopping and a few restaurants. We have stayed 4 times in the last year in Manhatten hotels and found this one the cheapest and the best. Staff very helpfull, 10 out of 10 for all of them. Nice bar and restaurant at the hotel. The rooms you could live in. They have a fidge, sink, coffee maker and large lounge area. View from the room was great looking back towards manhatten. Felix at the concierge desk was so helpful, you must go and see him.

Great place to stay

Can't say enough about the place! Very clean rooms with comfortable beds. Access into Manhattan very easy through Newport/Pavonia PATH train station one block walk away. A great option when visiting New York City. More value than paying $300+ a night for a comparable room in Manhattan.

Great location

by TripAdvisor Member YEG111

Great location for us. We were attending a wedding at Liberty Park and the hotel shuttled us to the park. We had rented a car as well and there was convenient access to Holland Tunnel which brought us toward Manhattan. Having a mall next door was convenient as well.
Rooms were clean and staff friendly. Also enjoyed the cookie given to us upon check-in. View was not spectacular, but our 2 year old enjoyed watching the PATH go by often.

We had a wonderful time!

I just wanted to drop a quick note to tell everyone that the Doubletree is truly as nice as the reviews they have been given. The hotel is very clean and the room that we stayed in had a wonderful view. The staff was very helpful and courteous. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to others. My sister and I took my niece for her sixteenth birthday and never once did we feel unsafe when walking around the hotel in the evening. As others have posted, there isn't many restaurants around. However, there is a mall close by with a food court if you decide not to eat in the city. The only negative we had was in locating the hotel itself. We ended up in some rather seedy neighborhoods before we located someone at the hotel who could give us good directions in finding them. Make absolutely sure that you know where the hotel is - do not go directly off of mapquest or even AAA.

For those of you traveling to NYC but staying in Jersey (for the first time - like us) - we had trouble understanding the transportation - the light rail is used for travel internally in Jersey: use it to get to the ferry to see the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. The Metro is the subway and is a couple of blocks from the hotel (but still within walking distance). Use the Metro to get to 33rd street. From there you can either take a NYC subsystem into Times Square or you can take a cab. It actually worked out to be about the same for us to take the cab. The cab was also great when trying to get up to the Met. From ESPN (close to Times Square) to the Met was $10 including tip. The driver told us that to take the cab from the Met back to Jersey would be about $100. So---take the sub in and then use a cab to get around the city.

Hotel Experience

by TripAdvisor Member ELMIL

We found our stay at the DoubleTree was very good. It was clean and the staff was very nice...except for this one lady in the afternoon shift and the shuttle driver. They didn't seem like enjoying helping CLIENTS. But overall it was a good experience. The rooms we're very comfortable for 4 adults and 1 child. The cleaning ladies we're very sweet and nice. The breakfast is overpriced for the quantity and the restaurant staff wasn't so helpful. It's better off to go eat at a restaurant around the hotel There's a mall about 5 min. aways which include Macy's and other cool stores. Also the PATH is right there (if it's a nice day, it's a 5 min. walk and very enjoyable) The PATH fare is only 1.50$US but it brings you straight to New York. Really enjoyed our stay in New Jersey and New York.... Love the shopping....just couldn't stop.....

Good stay at Doubletree

by TripAdvisor Member Boston732

This is the first time we've stayed at the Doubletree in Jersey City but it won't be the last. Very comfortable bed, very clean hotel. The morning breakfast buffet didn't have what I wanted and the restaurant manager arranged to scramble me up some egg whites!

Small, adequate fitness room. And best of all, parking was only $10!
