Travel Tips for New Brunswick

Rutgers University

by katmag

In the spring when it gets warm, a lot of classes move outside, students are playing frisbee and guitars in the quad, and the atmosphere turns to anticipation of long hot summer days at the nearby Jersey shore.

Old Queens

by Michael_D

This what I remember Old Queens looking like...with a dusting of snow.....Rutgers was founded in 1766 ten years before the United States was a country, so you can imagine there are some great historical buildings on campus. George Washington and his troups camped here when it was named QUEENS COLLEGE just before trekking down to Trenton to cross the Delaware.

Winter in New Brunswick

by katmag

Snow is another excuse to go get drunk. Winter 2003 was particularly rough and the university had to close down for a few days. During that time, students ruled the streets with sleds, snowboards, snowball fights, and other crazy antics.

The Scarlet Knights

by Michael_D

Rutgers University and its neighbor, Princeton, played the first game of intercollegiate football on Nov. 6, 1869, on a plot of ground where the present-day Rutgers gymnasium now stands in New Brunswick, N.J. Rutgers won that first game, 6-4.

Collge Town

by katmag

In this town we work hard, and we party hard. The college kids like the beer, the vodka, and anything else that will mess them up and leave them a bit confused in the morning. Chances are, if you live here, you know at least one bartender, so even if you're broke (as usual), you can still get drunk for free in a bar.
