Look at the background.
I suppose North Bergen isn't a famous tourist destination, but I've done a bit of research and in the North American continent, there seems to be no better place to go to see the most new or near-new Indian movies in a short time. Since I'm an avid fan of those movies, I'm seriously considering taking a trip there and blasting my mind with the entire card playing at the Cine Plaza 13, 2115 69th Street, North Bergen (info taken from nowrunning.com.
So that causes me to want to ask two questions. First, if it is an air trip, which airport involves the least hassles when the real destination is North Bergen. Two, assuming I can't just drop in, go nuts at the theater and fly out, where can one stay that makes the least hassles for such a nutty travel plan? Are there places in or near the same mall (its a multiplex so I assume it must be in some kind of suburban mall).
Hope someone lives around there and knows this kinda stuff. Thanks (shukriya) to whomever answers. I also thought there'd probably be a lot of Indian stores to visit for rare videos among other things.
Which North Bergen are you referring to ? It seems to me North Bergen, New Jersey. This is just across the Hudson River from Manhattan (New York City). It is a suburban community with some industry nearby. It can be reached via Newark Airport/ New Jersey Turnpike etc. There are some motels/hotels in this area, but most larger hotels can be found in Manhattan. There are many other places to see Indian movies; I suggest that you explore Flushung, Queens, New York among others.
I believe that cinema is on the corner of 69th and Tonnelle (pronounced "tunnellee") Avenue. That's the main street that runs through North Bergen and many other towns in that area. Tonnelle Avenue is also known as Route 1/9, which goes right to Newark Airport. So don't even consider a NYC airport, it'll just take you forever to get where you're going.
Between Newark and North Bergen you'll find lots of hotel options on Tonnelle Avenue. For chains, I know there's a Comfort Suites and a Days Inn in North Bergen and Ramada Express and Econo Lodge in Jersey City, so you should be able to find something in your budget.
As far as other Indian cultural things, I'm sure you can ask the others at the movies for tips. You may find that a lot of what you want is in NYC, but there's no shortage of public transportation from that area into Manhattan.
Hey, nice answers. This is a super resource for travelers.
