Ok for the price

Reasons to be concerned:
Not all rooms are fully furnished, the room that I stayed in lacked a towel rack and also had a lamp with no connection.
Staff leaves during the day, so you are on your own in the evening

AMERICA HOLIDAY IN MAY/JUNE 2008

by Caergeiliog

Could someone please advise as to whether there is rail / ferry transport from New York to Ocean City - many thanks

New Jersey transit bus #319 leaves the port authority bus terminal at 12:30 and arrives in Ocean city at 4:00.

Ferry is not a viable alternative.

Travel Tips for Ocean City

Ocean City is a DRY town!

by rockycomfort

For better or worse, there are no liqour/beer stores in OC...so...If you want some alcoholic refreshments, stop @ Circle Liqours on the Rt. 9 Circle before tooling into OC. You won't be disappointed. Opened in 1938, they have it all...HUGE selection & great prices. Legions of Pennsylvanians stop here to stock up their home bars (don't let the tax man know!) b/c of the over-priced, under-stocked, only-game-in-town "State Stores" in PA. The beaches in OC are no-booze also, so be safe, friendly, & creative.

Just relax! That's what Ocean City is about

by asturnut

Just relax! That's what Ocean City is all about. Also, for the beaches adjacent to the Boardwalk you have to have a beach tag to go on the beach from 8 am to 6pm. It's only a few dollars. If you don't want to buy a beach tag you have to drive all the way down to the 59th street beach.

Go fishing or Whale & Dolphin...

by SURFIN7TH

Go fishing or Whale & Dolphin watching. The North Star sails daily during the summer and by demand in the off season. This year we spotted many large whales and lots of dolphin just off the beach while fishing.

Packing List

by asturnut

Cool clothes for the day, tank tops, shorts. At night it gets chilly, so bring a parka or light sweater. Sun tan lotion, of course! A lot of stuff isn't allowed on the beach during high season. Radios, frisbees, ball playing, glass bottles, and animals are among the things that are forbidden on the beach. Skateboards and rollerblades are forbidden on the boardwalk. Bike are only allowed on the boardwalk at certain times of day.
You are allowed beach umbrellas, surf boards and boogie boards (in some places), sail boats, etc.
Sand toys for the children. Bring your kite! Make sure if you have small children you pack a stroller because you'll be doing a lot of walking. You'll either end up carrying them or have to rent a stroller at a premium on the boardwalk.

Minature golf

by asturnut

Mini golf isn't technically a sport... but it is one of my favorite pastimes. There are about 10 mini golf courses right on the boardwalk and several in town. The one pictured here, Congo Falls, is my favorite. It ranges between 5 to 8 dollars per game. Mini golf is a great family acitivity that can include everyone, even small children and grandparents. Provided by the course.

A: "Ocean City doesn't have much in the way of shells. Your best bet would be to follow Central Ave. all the way to the end. (59th Street). There you will be at Corsen's..."
