Red Bank is popular for its Jazz in the Park summer series, George Sheehan races and Cruisin' with the Oldies at Marine Wharf park, but a unique element of its appeal for me (aside from the oh-so trendy shops) is the artistic touch which livens various areas of town.
There are several murals in Red Bank that I really like. This one highlights Juanito's restaurant, in the proximity of Red Bank train station.
This realistic painting beautifies the side of this building and adds an artistic flair to what would be a dull exterior.
Anyone driving by would think at a glance that a live painter is laboring on this wall! The subtle colors and everyday scene fits in well with the area. (Shrewsbury Avenue and Drs. Parker Street).
This is another view of the mural livening up Red Bank's Riverside Park. The artists realized I was taking their photo and were kind enough to pose while I tried to capture the essence of the scene.
Red Bank's murals accent the town, adding an artistic touch to what would be a very plain view otherwise. The town depicted in the mural draws on the style of existing buildings in the area of the park.
Although I have Jack's in my shopping tips, I wanted to include it in the murals I've photographed, also. I just love this mural painted on the rear of the building--it would have been such a blank and boring expanse otherwise.
You are looking at a flat wall, yet the perspective seems otherwise. A great piece!
A beautiful local drive is to take West Front Street towards Fair Haven (head east), turn left onto Bingham Avenue and cross the Navesink River on the Oceanic Bridge. Looks a bit like Maine around here. Once you cross the river, make the left onto Navesink River Road to pass the mansions and horse farms and head to Route 35 which will take you right back to Red Bank if you head south.
