Travel Tips for Vineland

50's style food drive-in

by asturnut

Stewart's Drive-in isn't known for culinary excellence, but rather for nostalgia and novelty. It's a "NJ thing." There are locations in several other states on the east coast as well. The family has to go at least once each summer. Stewart's is a 50's styled eatery where you drive up and the hottie waitresses (called carhops) take your order in your car, then hang the little trays on food on your window. You sit in your car and eat. It's kinda fun to do if it's not too hot out. They make an outstanding rootbeer floats called a "Black Cow." Open from April til October.

Lincoln Falls, mini-golf and driving range

by asturnut

Awesome new golf place on Lincoln avenue in East Vineland. Very pricey, but there's not much to do around here, so I'm not complaining! There's a mini golf course, a driving range, an indoor snack shop, and a pro shop. PGA lessons are also available.

Vineland Public Library

by asturnut

The Vineland Library, located on 1057 E Landis Avenue, is actually pretty decent. It is by far the best library in the county. In addition to the books (duh) there's computers with internet access; a free video and DVD lending library; a huge children's section; puppet shows and story time for children; and cultural events, including frequent art shows. The library has recently broken ground on a much anticipated addition which will include additional meeting facilities and a teen center.

Thalor's new Vineland Page

by Thalor

I worked on a project during the week for many months back in 1996. I stayed at the Milleville Inn in nearby Milleville, NJ.

Vineland is the "dandelion capital of the US".

Which it turns out is a good thing, not how it sounds. The greens can be used in salads. They do not really have an unusually large number of them on their lawns.
