La Posada de Albuquerque: La Posada de Albuquerque   Compare Rates NEW!
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Located in Downtown Albuquerque and within walking distance to movie theaters, restaurants, art galleries, night clubs, comedy clubs, the Convention Center and the beautiful KIMO Theater, this modestly priced hotel gets our recommendation. Built in 1939 by owner/designer Conrad Hilton, La Po, as locals call it, was the site of his honeymoon. It is deservedly on the National Registry of HIstoric Places. From the beautiful Moorish brass and mosaic fountain in the lobby to its handcarved corbels, handmade furniture and Mexican tile floors, this is a one of a kind hotel. The 114 rooms also have handcarved furniture and the bigger rooms at the top of the 10 story hotel have large windows looking out across the city with a view of our breathtaking Sandia Mountains. Amenities include access to a health facility, a restaurant and a popular lobby bar that features live music.

Route 66 Hostel: Budget Travel Gem
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Built in 1905 as an apartment building, this very inexpensive Hostel is close to the bus system and just a couple of minutes walking distance from Downtown's entertainment district one way and Old Town the other. Featured are a common kitchen and some food staples but nothing gourmet. Rates vary in price starting at $17 a night for a dorm bed and go up to $33 a night for a suite that can accommodate up to 3 people. Reservations are incouraged. The maximum stay is 10 days and guest mat live no closer than 50 miles from Albuquerque. This is the perfect place for the traveler on a tiny budget.

Bow and Arrow Lodge: Not a good place to stay
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Haven't and wouldn't stay - a big push by Alb Mayor to shut these hotels down along East Central, where drug trafficing and crime is rampant.

Would have been a good place to stay in 1960s but now not good at all - please don't

    W. E. Mauger Estate: Great B and B
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • This beautifully restored Queen Anne Victorian built in 1897 is the former home of wool baron William Mauger. It is on the National Registry of Historic Places. Decorated with period antiques, the house has high ceiling and lovely brass appointments. Located in Downtown Albuquerque and only a short walk to the Downtown Entertainment District, Convention Center, public transportation and Old Town, this is a very convenient place to stay. All rooms have private baths with showers and one has a private balcony. Breakfast is served each morning.

Albuquerque Central KOA: Big, friendly RV campground
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • We live only 2 miles away, so my relatives who travel in big RVs stay at the KOA and love it. The staff treats everyone like family, they have a pool and a big store/gift shop. I recommend it to anyone coming thru the Southwest on Route 66.

Nice pool, a putting green, you can fill propane, picnic tables, some shade trees (rare and valuable here in the desert).

Located right in the center of town, Hyatt Regency is a landmark of the Albuquerque Skyline. 20 storeys tall, it is one of the tallest buildings in the city.

Desert Sands Motor Hotel: Really bad part of town
  • Tip Rating:
  • Have never and will never stay there - the Albuquerque Mayor is pushing to get these East Central hotels closed down, due to crime.

Very old, not a good place to stay. May be shut down soon.

Super 8 Albuquerque Midtown: Good location and great service   Compare Rates NEW!
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Hotels.com came through for us, and we got our card keys. The view across to the mountains where the tram is located is substantial enough to take an upper floor facing east. We had a third floor room with a good view of the moutains, as well as our car in the parking lot below. Access was good both by elevator and stairs. A continental breakfast came in the morning, so we were able to eat a bit and then hit the road early.

The building is relatively new, and the rooms immaculate. The great view for the low prices is worth it, and we had good access to old town in a matter of minutes.
