  • I stayed at the Candlewood in Temple, Arizona, but this one in Albuqueque must be very similar. Very comfortable, with full size kitchen in your room!

  • Actually after doing a little research on this hotel for a forum question, it really sounds like a good choice unless you are afraid of ghosts (it is near a large cemetery). Seriously, it is a good choice. Normally I would not recommend a location west of I-25 and near downtown, but I think the Clubhouse Inn is probably fine. A quick check on Travelocity showed uniformly high recommendations and a good price. If you go west on Menaul to Rio Grande Blvd., it is not that far (~3 miles) to Old Town. If you go east on Menaul, it is not that far (~4 miles) to the Uptown area with all its shopping and restaurants. A quick trip (~8 miles) up I-25 to the Alameda Exit (then west) will get you to the Balloon Fiesta Museum. Also, it is not very far (~6 miles) south on I-25 to reach the airport. With a free hot breakfast and evening happy hours, I think the Cluchouse Inn is a "find" for budget accommodation in Albuquerque.

    This stay was quite disappointing. When we arrived in the evening after a long day on the road, our room had an inside temperature in the 90's. Although the room had a fairly new air conditioner, it took 3 or 4 hours to cool down the room to a temperature comfortable enough to sleep in. Although some upgrades appeared to have been done recently, the overall appearance of the room and the motel itself was rundown.

    I would not recommend this motel. There are many other motels in the area which I presume would provide a better experience, especially for the price.

  • Clean hotel minutes from downtown and Old Town with parking, fitness center, pools and, continental breakfast. The inside rooms facing the courtyard were quiet. Rooms were updated and comfortable, the bathroom was dated.

  • Not that great of a B&B. Was run down and had a really cluttered feel. Bedspreads had animal fur and had not been cleaned properly. When the other reviewer said that it was close to I-40, they weren't kidding... Right next to it, as in nothing between you and the freeway. Trucks blowing off their brakes is not my idea of a romantic relaxing experience. So if you like cat urine, dirty linens, and 24/7 freeway noise this is the place for you. Pull the address up on mapquest... I kid you not.

    Bottom line:

    avoid this place like the plague!

    What I remember most of all was the feeling of being cheated...

  • The desk clerks were very rude and not very clean looking. 1 clerk had a Harley Davidson doo rag on his head. We reserved a room with non smoking,2 queen beds. We were given a handicap room with 1 small bed. And when the clerk was questioned she said " Take it or leave it." She said the same to another lady who was very upset with her reservations also. A very bad experience.

    The Hilton Albuquerque is dated on the outside but has been updated in many areas on the interior. The halls need a bit of freshing up but the rooms are nicely designed and spacious. The layout with a sofa, coffee table, and work desk is good. Lighting in the room is also more than adequate with 7 separate lamps. The staff are friendly and cheerful and willing to help. A non-smoking room was not available when I checked in but I was offered one first thing in the morning which made the rest of my stay much more enjoyable. Parking can be a problem on Friday and Saturday nights but there is an overflow lot to the north that is shared by the valet parking lot.

    Conveniently located to Old Town (less than 10 minutes), Indian Pueblo Cultural Center (5 minutes), and the University of New Mexico (10 minutes) just off of I-40 at University and I-25 at Menaul. If you can get the government rate it is truly a deal (and they will ask for a government ID unlike a lot of places so no fibbing at this property).

    Sofa and coffee table in room. Free wifi. Good central location; not within walking distance to anything however.
