Hiking at Sandia Crest
by jujub
There are lots of trails for hiking, and unfortunately, the visitor center does not provide any hand out maps. You can take a look at their map in the center, and decide from there which trail to take. The trail we took started behind the observatory deck, winding our ways through the mountain. The trail was unmarked and narrow, be careful.

Fire and Ice tour .......

The current itinerary for this tour is to take I40 west. ~45 minutes from albuquerque is Acoma Sky city - bypass the casino there and go to the old pueblo.
After that, continue down I40 to Milan. From there head south on Hwy 53. On this route you can visit El Mapais Nat'l Park, Ice cave/Bandera volcano, El Morro old school gallery, El Morro Nat'l Monument, Candy Kitchen Wolf Rescue, Ramah Lake, Ramah Museum, Los Gigantes, and then Zuni Pueblo.
After leaving the pueblo, take 602 north into Gallup to spend the night. The next day you can wander back the way you came to better explore the sights, or wander back towards ABQ on the next leg of the weekend tour ...
Best Native American Food
by lovemycacti about Harvest Cafe at the Pueblo Cultural Center
Located at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center, this food is spicy (true to New Mexico form) and smothered in everything chile. Excellent authentic pueblo cuisine. Be sure to visit the museum, take in a dance and visit the gift shop with a picturesque view. Tiva Taco. Consists of a piece of frybread layered with a bean paste, lettuce, cheese and regular taco fixin's. Another piece of frybread is slapped on and smothered with more cheese, sour cream and your choice of chile pepper. Came with a sidedish of the most amazing blue corn french fries with ranch dressing. Not an ounce of health food to it - but a must dine destination!
The chile will knock your socks off, always ask for it on the side and use sparingly until you establish your desired taste. I thought my heart was going to jump out of my chest.
Santa Teresa

This is a historical home that has special stories.
Billy the Kid drank in the bar of this restaraunt. I am not sure if it was before or after he heard the story about the home....more details to come... I had blue margaritas, great red wine and was there food..........let me get back to you.
