Worst hotel in Albquequerque
For a hotel that is rather expensive, the customer service was horrible. No coffee in the rooms; have to walk to the lobby to get a cup of complementary coffee and then usually the coffee pot was empty. No vending machines in the hotel; had to walk to the Hyatt to buy a coke. No hot water. Every day we were never given enough towels and one day we were even told by the housekeeping staff that they did not have time to clean our room.
The real problem is on the weekends they have live entertainment in the lobby and on the patio. Saturday night we came back to our hotel at 10 o'clock. The music was so loud the walls vibrated. At 11:30 p.m. finally called to ask when the music would stop. Said 12 midnight or we could move rooms--yeah, in our pj's and pack up all our stuff. At 12:45 the walls were still vibarating so called again and was told--the lobby music quit at 12, the patio at 2 a.m.!!!! Of course, how did we have the audacity to complain, no one had ever complained--ever! 15 minutes later they called to say they could put sound proofing stuff on our windows. Now, if no one had every complained, why did they arrive with plastic cut to size of the three windows.
Long story short, we were not even given an "I am sorry nor a penny for our inconvenience."
Lousy hotel. Plus there were three felonies (a burning of a church and two stabbings) within one block of the hotel in the five days we stayed.
Unique Quality: NONE.

Horrible
I took my boyfriend to the Andaluz for his birthday. The staff was really friendly at first. I rented a room and had a few of his friends over. With having a few big boys in the room and only one small bathroom, I lit some incense. They charged me a $200 smoking fee. No where on the paper I signed did it say no incense or candles. It just said non-smoking, which I take as no cigarettes. I find $200 a bit extreme. My boyfriend said he will pay it but that's horrible for his birthday. On top of that the room we had was not in the best condition. The table had a big chip in it. The brown chair had white stains all over it. The couch was a pull out and had little staples sticking out and my boyfriend accidentally stabbed his finger on one. We talked to the manager about it and he pretty much said he could do something about it but wasn't going to. Needles to say we will never go back.
Unique Quality: The lobby and library are very nice. The Restaurant in the hotel has an amazing atmosphere and great food.

La Posada de Albuquerque
Unique Quality: Located in Downtown Albuquerque and within walking distance to movie theaters, restaurants, art galleries, night clubs, comedy clubs, the Convention Center and the beautiful KIMO Theater, this modestly priced hotel gets our recommendation.
Built in 1939 by owner/designer Conrad Hilton, La Po, as locals call it, was the site of his honeymoon. It is deservedly on the National Registry of HIstoric Places.
From the beautiful Moorish brass and mosaic fountain in the lobby to its handcarved corbels, handmade furniture and Mexican tile floors, this is a one of a kind hotel. The 114 rooms also have handcarved furniture and the bigger rooms at the top of the 10 story hotel have large windows looking out across the city with a view of our breathtaking Sandia Mountains.
Amenities include access to a health facility, a restaurant and a popular lobby bar that features live music.

Albuquerque's Hotel History
Downtown Albuquerque is home to one of the first Hilton hotels. La Posada de Albuquerque was built in 1939 by New Mexico native Conrad Hilton who honeymooned here with bride Zsa Zsa Gabor), and is on the National Register of Historic Places. La Posada still retains much of its original flavor, with hand painted murals and a tiled fountain gracing the two-story lobby, topped by a carved beam ceiling. The 10-story hotel is also home to the Jane Butel School of Southwestern Cooking, recognized by Bon Appetite Magazine as one of the best vacation cooking schools in the world.
