VT Meet to welcome a VTer to our town :)
by kymbanm
Expresso has posted a meet - but if you are like me, you may not check that area of VT very often ;) So here is the link to the posting. She hasn't posted the location yet ... but it's a small town and with a time and date we've got 2 out of 3 items nailed down! She should be letting us know of the location anytime now ...

Hope to see you all there!

I haven't been to that one yet :) I love the one downtown .... Tocano's .... yummmmmmy. I love meat!! The guy we are meeting is getting a ride, so expresso will take that into consideration ... where his ride can take him.
But I must say ... you have great taste in food!

Travel Tips for Albuquerque
Local Government Public Access TV
by danmike
Besides the Weekly Alibi and Crosswinds Weekly, another great way to keep up on what's going on with local culture and politics is the Channel 16 (Comcast Basic Cable), Public Government TV. Streaming video is also available 24 hours a day (www.cabq.gov/govtv).
The station offers live coverage of each week's City Council meetings, County Commission meetings and Police Oversight meetings. Other programs include City Councilors interviewing local citizens concerning important issues involving the City.
Also featured are programs specifically about the City's TriCentennial Celebration and "Duke City Magazine" in which various hosts talk to local artists, business people and involved cititzens,
Programs by and about our local police and fire fighters, wonderful documentaries about our city's history, as well as nationwide urban planning and renewal projects fill out the stations programming.
La Luz Trail
by naplesnate
Its a nine mile trek that will take you to the very top of the Sandia Mountains. The trail actually ends at the tram stop so you can actually hop on it to get back down to the mountain.
The tail entrance is past the main entrance to the tram parking lot. Stay on the PanAmerican Highway and do not turn right towards the tram but keep going for about a mile and you'll see the second dirt road that leads to the base of the trail.
The trail is pretty challenging but can be hiked at any time of the year. The last bit of the trail is at on the crest of the range and offers great views of the city.
One of my favorite things to do in Albuquerque.
Unique Home Site
by AlbuqRay
Someone with a sense of humor used to live just south of Madrid on State Highway 14. The little house is partially made out of a railroad car and the bridge from a flatbed trailer. He/She must have been a welder, since the gate is very unique. The "ranch" is abandoned now. Madrid has problems with getting potable water. Maybe that is why the owner left.
La Placida in Old Town
by Kodi01
There are mariachi bands that play at your table. Make sure that you tip them, $5.00 was the standard price for a song.
They were really great entertainment. Sopapillas and the house specialty. I also tried the fajitas which were great.
Note: The chiles are different than in Texas, so the food taste quite different. This restaraunt was highly recommended by the local shuttle driver.
Best Service in New Mexico!
by bobkw2000 about Hot Tamale
Great Mexican food, average salsa, but the best service I've found in NM. The interior of the restaurant is painted in bright colors and very clean. For those of you getting ready to visit NM, be prepared to wait, on EVERYTHING! The only exception I found was my luch on my last day in town here! The hostess seted me immediately, the waitress was there within a minute, had chips and salsa there shortly thereafter and served my food before the salsa was half gone! Add to the the fact that she checked on me twice during the meal. Outstanding service, even outside NM! :-) I unfortunaely only had one chance to eat there, but the Guacamole chicken taco's were great! Everything seemed freshly prepared and served hot.
The menu has so many other tempting dishes, I may have to come back to Rio Rancho just to eat here again!
