Nicely surprised
by TripAdvisor Member joisagypsy
My husband and I just got back from staying at the Nativo Lodge for two nights. The beds were amazingly comfortable, and our room was quiet. The staff was very nice and helpful. It was close to Old Town and the Cultural Center. We would stay here again.
Affordable Boutique Hotel

We didn't know what to expect after booking a night at Nativo Lodge at the last minute. We were pleasantly surprised at every turn:
The rooms are tastefully, elegantly decorated. The beds had pillowtop mattresses and luxurious comforters with faux-suede covers.
The pool was warm and wonderful. It was an excellent depth for our 4-year old daughter. It was fun swimming outside and back inside again.
The lobby was spectacular. It featured native-inspired art and decor.
The staff was accommodating and friendly - but not ever intrusive.
The breakfast buffet did cost extra, but the taste/quality and convenience was well worth the fee.
The location (right off I-25, a few miles north of I-40) is ideal for travelers and visitors.
The price was exceptional-given the charming decor, amenities, staff, and sleeping comfort.
Avoid At All Cost

Stayed here a week, never again! They voided our room keys TWICE and blamed it on lightening striking the hotel or me, someone who's traveled 38 years without this problem. The bathroom light was 10w bulb, not enough for safety. They couldn't figure out how to print out our airline boarding passes after they said they could, just gave excuse after excuse. We had to go to KINKOs to do it ourselves. Their "free happy hour" buffet is scarfed up by locals in 15 minutes flat. Too bad for paying customers. And they changed our sheets ONCE in a week. All this for $100+ a night!!???
albuquerque is great but the nativo is not, sorry

rooms were clean and as advertised but failed to clean our room one day during our stay and also left inadequate towels once during stay.
no microware or refridgerator, pool doors were inoperative and to rent a movie on THEIR pay per view was a minimum of $13.95.
exceptionally small parking spaces and they watered the lawn at night with a sprinkler system with some kind of chemical in it that almost ruined my paint and took several hours and a lot of hard work to remove.
for the price i would look elsewhere for a room
Nice, except zero soundproofing between rooms

Lovely decor, lovely bed, but the people in the next room sounded like they were IN our room, and unfortunately they started talking at 5 a.m. Front desk was most unhelpful. This hotel desperately needs soundproofing!
Noisy Location, Un-knowledgeable Staff
by TripAdvisor Member angiecat
The room was nice, with a good bed and bedding and it was clean and as advertized. Unfortunately, the hotel's location is adjacent to the highway, Rt. 25 and the very busy San Mateo Blvd so only in the dead of night, say between 2:00 and 5:00 AM, was it somewhat quiet and even during these hours there were still occasional car horns and sirens blaring. All other times there is a steady stream of traffic noise. We generally sleep during the hours between 1:00 and 9:00 AM, so this is a big problem first when trying to fall asleep and then rush hour seems to start at 6:00AM and increase steadily throughout the morning. This is unfortunate as the property is quite nice, beautifully decorated and comfortable all around. The lobby is very pleasant with great sitting areas.
The other major problem was the staff who seemed to want to be helpful but were mostly clueless when asked basic questions about the main attraction in Albuquerque during the week we were there, the International Balloon Fiesta. Everyone at the main desk should have been able to answer questions about getting to the Balloon Park (it's a 10 minute drive away with buses taking people down from "park and ride" locations) and they should have all been briefed on upcoming weather each day because this wholly affected the balloon launchings each day. They were not. These are details guests needed to know in order to make decisions on which days to attend the fiesta. When one is on vacation, one does not always have local stuff at our fingertips. We were able to find the weather channel on TV but it did not always give the detailed local weather report we needed.
Comfortable accomodations

We stayed here and loved the room and the especially the bed. It has to be one fo the most comfortable hotel beds I have ever slept in. The room was very clean and we had a lovely view of the mountains. We had two minor issues: the medical center across the road that is currently under construction; there was a lot of noise in the morning. However, this is out of the hotel's control. Also, our telephone did not work. They immediately sent up a maintenance supervisor made us feel very stupid. The phone in the room was an "office" phone, not a "room" phone and he acted like we should have known to lift the panel (very hard to see) and choose the appropriate setting. We felt that the stay would have been considered excellent if not of the attitude of the maintenance man. I would stay here again.
nice ambience, nice staff

I went during the International Balloon Festival 0ct 9-15th. Staff was very nice & helpful--the decor was an expierience in itself-very southwestern. I found the rooms furnished very comfortably and the decor certainly added to the trip experience. My view of the Sandia Mtns & the Balloon Park was "awesome" and allowed me to photgraph the Sandias during each phase of the day.Balloons even flew over the lodge. That said --Some BIG negatives. The TV system was cumbersome--someone must have dreampt up giving guests "every option known to man" except regular cable TV. I only received 13 channels--the big 3 networks and just 5 cable--which included 2 sports and 2 news channels --no A & E, no USA, no Fox --they had pay per view for $13.99 per movie and the movies on were old --I walked 7 blocks from the lodge to a discount theatre and saw 2 of the movies offered for $1.50 each.Doors btwn rooms paper thin--I heard EVERY word and noise in the room next door--partying till 2:30AM each nite--I left sleep deprived.
Wonderful!

Stayed here for three night with the family ( two teens ) we booked the King Suite. The room was very large with a separate bedroom with a privacy door. Elegantly furnished with leather furniture and suede bedding. Very clean. Staff was very helpful and even printed boarding passes for the airline for us.
WE were extremely pleased with the Value of the room for the reasonable price.
Nuts & bolts missing!

Property photos are accurate, Nativo is tastefully decorated. Beautiful lobby, comfy bed, great staff. We stayed 3 nights. The weather was hot: disappointed the pool was closed over Memorial Day Weekend stay, air conditioner was old & did not have cool air, shampoo & etc. never replenished during 3 day stay and the A/C not corrected, though a friendly maintenance worker tried, the unit simply needs replacing. Price reflects lavish southwest decor, not maintenance/ amenities (pool & A/C) expected for the price.

Drive Directions from Airport to Northwest area (Irving Blvd.)

Any easy direct route to Irving Blvd. NW from the airport? Any glitches that
I might need to know when driving the roads inroute to the NW area?

There is major construction on I40 and Coors -
so your best choice would be to take I25 north to Paseo del Norte. Head west (left turn off the the freeway). About six miles down Paseo ends at Golf Course. Turn right. About a mile and half later you'll see Irving. You'll probably turn left, as a right turn would take you down toward Coors and shopping, a left would take you to the residential area.
If you are driving out there during evening rush hour, you should plan for at least an hour from the airport. Otherwise it's about a 30 minute drive.
if you have a specific address - go to mapquest.com for a map and written directions. Have fun in ABQ!!!
