There seems to be no accommodation right in the centre of Roswell but we found this Days Inn to be in a good location for us, and reasonably priced (neither the cheapest nor by any means the dearest that Roswell has to offer). Many of the rooms, including ours, are set well back from the busy main road, so noise need not be a problem here – request one of these if you’re a light sleeper.
For $95 (October 2011 price) we got a large room on the ground floor, with parking right outside as is the norm in US motels. We had a comfortable king-size bed, fridge, microwave (didn’t use this so can’t vouch for it), large TV and coffee-making facilities. The bathroom was clean and well-maintained, with basic toiletries and a hairdryer provided. The motel also has a pool and small exercise room with weights etc, neither of which we used – the pool in fact had closed for the season (May – open September only).
The $95 rate included breakfast. This is described by the motel in its publicity material as “luxurious”, but “adequate” would be a much better choice of word. The buffet offered eggs and grits, biscuits, mini muffins, make-your-own waffles, brown water masquerading as coffee and juice.
The best thing for us about this motel was its location – opposite a decent restaurant/pub (Farleys – see my review) so no need to take the car out at night, and only a short drive from the sights of downtown. And with Days Inn you know you can rely on reasonably quality, in our experience, and although you’re unlikely to be excited by the experience of staying here, it makes a good base for your visit to Roswell.
