More about Casa de la Cuma Bed & Breakfast
Casa de la Cuma, Not what we expected
We booked rooms at Casa de la Cuma in August. I was excited to try a different B&B than we had stayed in before, and the reviews on the website were excellent. We were very dissapointed. The room was much smaller than it appeared in the picture on their website. There was barely enough room to walk around the bed. If you are looking for something with a little space to move around, especially if you plan on staying for several days, I would avoid this one.
Clean, comfortable, quiet and friendly
Just returned from a week in New Mexico including two days at Casa de la Cuma. This is a nice, small inn within easy walking distance of downtown Santa Fe, but without all the hustle and bustle of downtown. It's a very comfortable place to stay with friendly and sincere innkeepers. The main sitting room in the inn is beautifully decorated and very welcoming. Breakfast is a nice assortment of cereals, yogurt, juice, fruit, coffee and tea. Our room was one of the smaller ones, but perfectly ok for my wife and me staying two days. Things we particularly appreciated: fridge and microwave for our use, coffee/tea and cookies available through the day, iron and ironing board in the room and terry cloth robes. One thing we really loved was having a nice vanity in the bathroom with loads of space for all our toileries. Everything about the inn is spotlessly clean and up to date. Overall, a very nice place to stay and a good value. Our innkeeper, Nancy, was very helpful and knowledgeable. We would gladly return if/when our travels go through Santa Fe.
We highly recommend
This was a lovely, comfortable B&B. What made it really special was the hostess, Nancy. She is very accommodating, knowledgeable, and warm.
The location is very close to the Plaza, maybe a 5-7 minute easy walk to the Plaza. We stayed in the Zapotec and were very happy with the room. Breakfast was ready and waiting for us in the morning. We definitely recommend this B&B to anyone visiting Santa Fe.
Just like staying with friends
We stayed at Casa De La Cuma on our first visit to Santa Fe. The bed was amazing, and so comfortable. The room was a little tight to get around in, kind of like a cruise ship, but still beautiful. Nancy and Alex, the owners are so warm and friendly, it really felt like you were staying with friends. Nancy is so accommodating with her recommendations, we had an issue where our reservation for a spa treatment I had booked from my husband's 50th birthday got mixed up, Nancy called someone at Inn at the Marcy to let them know what happened, we returned to our room after dinner to find a bag of spa samples on our door! She just goes above and beyond making sure her guests are receiving exceptional service from Santa Fe. Our last night was the only disappointment; some guests checked in around 11:30 and were very loud, waking us up trying to get in to the house. Only recommendations is to have a sign out asking late arrivals to make every effort to be considerate of other guests and to be quiet, and better maintenance on the spa, the spa had a high algae content and had a odor, it needed a shock treatment. Other then that we found our room to be so quiet and peaceful. Nancy makes an incredible home made granola for a breakfast selection. The breakfast is a continental breakfast, there is no protein and is mainly all starch, with the exception of the fruit plate. They also only serve leaded coffee, so if you are a decaf coffee drinker you have a large selection of decaf teas to choose from. We would certainly return for another stay here.
Charming Respite in Santa Fe
We so enjoyed our trip to Santa Fe and loved the Bed and Breakfast, Casa de la Cuma. Nancy, the Innkeeper was wonderful and full of recommendations and information.
The location is within walking distance of "The Plaza" and once you're used to the higher elevation, the short hill up to the B & B can be done easily.
We would highly recommend Casa de la Cuma. From the spa in the back to the pond in front, the grounds are lovely and it was very serene just sitting there after a day of sightseeing.
Hosts were very personable. We met some great guests. Most importantly, I am extremely allergic to cats. They have a cat, which we never saw. They have trained their cat to stay out of the living areas of the guests. I had no problems at this home. I would never have guessed they had a cat. NO PROBLEMS AT ALL!!!
A very warm reception
We had a fabulous stay at Casa de la Cuma Bed and Breakfast. Nancy & Alex were the IDEAL innkeepers. Together, they made us feel like we were part of their family. They could not have been more accommodating. They were also extremely well-informed about the area and provided us with a wealth of ideas of interesting places to see (and dine).
The Inn itself was so warm and charming, that we wished we could have stayed longer. Personal touches were evident throughout the Inn. The rooms were well equipped with everything we could have needed, including comfy robes and lavender soaps. The beds were extremely comfortable (in fact, my husband commented that he had the best sleep he’s had in ages). We loved this Inn (and the convenient location) and will most definitely return in the future.
Thank you Nancy & Alex for your wonderful hospitality.
Great Stay at Casa de la Cuma
My husband and I had a wonderful stay at The Casa de la Cuma in October. Alec and Nancy were such friendly innkeepers that we felt as if we were visiting friends. The B&B is a 10 min. walk to The Plaza which is great since parking can be a problem. Our room "The Zapotec Room" had an outside entrance which was really close to the Hot Tub/Patio. Our room included a king size bed and a wood burning stove. The breakfasts at the B&B were very ample which usually included fresh fruit, yogurt, homemade granola, bread and a baked item. The cookie jar was filled with homemade cookies for an afternoon snack.
Alec made a copy of a map to help us with our drive to Taos. We would definitely stay at the Casa de la Cuma again.
Cozy and close to everything
My husband and I stayed at Casa de la Cuma in Feb. 2006. The room was very comfortable, and the location is great. Close enough to walk comfortably to the plaza and all the great downtown restaurants, yet in a residential neighborhood so we didn't feel like we were staying in a commercial zone. Very restful. The bed and comforter was great. Sheets were silky smooth. Mountain views from the deck and hot tub. It was a wonderful stay!
This B&B has it all. The location is a nice, easy stroll to the Plaza but not right in town. The room we had (the Cowboy room) was comfortable, well decorated and cozy. The owners really take pride in their business and are helpful without being intrusive. Also, the breakfasts were interesting and creative. If I make it to Santa Fe again, I will stay here!
