Hi from a very long distance...!

by tatjana_fox

I'll probably get the opportunity to come to Santa Fe for 9 months long education in TV journalism. I am wondering - whate are the prices of accomodation? If I come, I'll probably be supposed to rent some decent place, one room flat... in the area near Santa Fe University. Any advices... suggestions... Anyway, I don't know a lot about Santa Fe. Any word would do. :)

SFe is sort of expensive by US standards since it is a tourist destination and has a lot of art galleries. I expect you will pay $500+ per month for a flat of your own.

Thank you very much for your reply. Considering that I've already been in Boston, which seem to me even more expensive, that amount of money (500$) is bearable. :)

Hi Tatjana,
I think you could find a room to share, even in a nice adobe house, for about $350, if you luck out; for $500 you should make sure it includes the utility bills! Contact the housing office of the college you'll be studying at (you probably mean College of Santa Fe? There is no Santa Fe University there, as far as I know!), they should be able to assist you in finding housing or placing a "looking for a roommate" ad on the college billboards.
Good luck!

Travel Tips for Santa Fe

Santa Fe Is a Favourite

by RACCOON1

Santa Fe is great .

Just go . You need no tips.

Lots of good restaurants. Being next to the Los Alamos there is a source of well off people .

Friendly people.

Great weather in spring and fall.

Interesting history

This was the starting point ( well Albequerqe was ) for our trip through northern New Mexico and southern Colorade . It is a good jump off point .

One facet of the Old West style towns I love and very prevalent in New Mexico due to the high amounts and sun and heat are covered pavements. Tourists love the way they look and they are very practical if visiting in the warmer months when it might otherwise be far too hot to shop during the midday when it's certainly too hot to do much else. Santa Fe has a nice twist on the theme by painting the wooden parts bright hues in start contrast to the adobe red clay the main structures are made of. It makes for great photographic opportunities.

Turquoise Trail

by hemisfear

If you fly in to Albuquerque you will see directly east of town is Sandia Peak. Traveling east on Interstate 40 you will come to the exit for Turquoise Trail. See website link for directions. This is an alternate route to Santa Fe and Taos. It is most definitely worth the drive.

The other half

by rexvaughan about Canyon Road

Just to counterbalance my tip on the high end gallery on Canyon Road, I had to include this one as well. Not only is it not so expensive, it is entertaining and has a message. It does illustrate the variety of arts and crafts available on this incredible street. (I also like the guy's political views).
