Great Time at Hacienda Nicholas

by TripAdvisor Member OconomowocTravelers

We were on a road trip, driving from Wisconsin to California and back, and never knew in advance how far we'd get in a day. We were lucky enough to find a room at the Hacienda Nicholas, and booked two nights. We had such a nice time, we stayed an extra night. Our room was very cozy and appealing, and the breakfasts were delicious. Everyone that worked there was friendly, and very helpful in suggesting great hiking spots, restaurants, and other things to do. (Since we were travelling with our 2 small dogs, we had some limitations, and everyone was very accommodating in helping us determine where the dogs were welcome.) The Hacienda has a great location, and is a short walk to the Plaza.
We'd recommend Hacienda Nicholas to anyone, and we hope to be able to go again soon!

A Must Stay, in Santa Fe

by TripAdvisor Member LivermoreGirl

Our first trip to Santa Fe, made memorial, thanks to Hacienda Nicholas! Upon arrival at the Hacienda Nicholas, we were greeted by a fantastic staff who were very attentive to our needs and were able to direct us around the city with enthusiasm. The Hacienda Nicholas' close proximity to the plaza made it easy and fun to take strolling tours of the downtown area.
Breakafast each morning was a very welcome start to our day, the stuffed french toast and frittata were to die for!
When we arrived back at the Hacienda Nicholas after a day of sights around the city, we were in for a real treat. The wine and cheese hour at 5 PM was just the thing. We had the opportunity to chat with the staff and other guests, and to talk about the excitement of our day. What a fun way to meet new friends.
Our room was cozy, clean, and beautifully decorated in the Santa Fe style.
We would recomend this stay to everyone!
Anna, your cooking will keep us coming back again and again!

Our favorite B&B in Santa Fe

by TripAdvisor Member Yogini_grandma

We travel to Santa Fe several times a year to visit family, and we always stay at the Hacienda Nicholas, or its sister inn, The Madeleine, across the back parking lot. While we have chosen different rooms on different trips, we have always had excellent service, delicious breakfasts (where our family members including a young granddaughter are welcomed), a clean, well appointed room with comfortable beds (and enough pillows!), fluffy towels, as much coffee, tea, lemonade, cookies, MandMs, nuts, etc. as we want at all hours of the day or night. This trip we also experienced the "Absolute Nirvana" spa at the Madeleine: what a fabulous addition to our stay. The owners and staff at the Hacienda Nicholas and the Madeleine make us feel like very valued guests. That's why we keep coming back. Written by "Clara's grandmother", Palo Alto, CA

A Home Away from Home!

by TripAdvisor Member AmyRoch

My husband and I had a really nice stay the the Hacienda Nicholas this month (March, 2007). There happened to be a particularly congenial group of guests there at the time and we all enjoyed the complimentary wine and cheese at the end of the day when we could share our experiences, comments about restaurants, and just get to know each other. The outside courtyard was a perfect spot for socializing, as well as the comfy furniture inside by the fireplace. Snacks were always available and were homemade. Breakfasts were good and again provided a time to socialize with other guests over coffee. The bed was very comfortable and we loved the down comforter (just like home!). I'm not sure we will ever get back to Santa Fe, but if we do, we will stay at the Nicholas. Another plus - it was quite affordable.

Great Location, Good Food, Caring Service

by TripAdvisor Member JohnGroot

What a wonderful experience. There were three couples from NJ, NC and CA, We had a business meeting in New Mexico the following week and wanted to visit the city of Santa Fe for 5 days before the meeting at the Santa Ana Pueblo, near Albuquerque.

One of the couples had friends that recomended the Hacienda Nicholas [--] and we were not disappointed.

Located just a few blocks from 'Old Town', the location made it possible to tour, enjoy restaurants and shop with only a 5 to 15 minute walk. The rooms were charming and the beds were comfy.

The breakfasts included fresh fruit, cereal, a main dish (different each day), juice and of course, good coffee and teas. At 5 there was a reception that included cheese and light snacks along with a glass of wine. If there was anything we might have asked for was to sample some of the New Mexico wines rather than California. The friendly staff, of whom we met several, were anxious to help us with dinner reservations, directions, special requests, information on museums and other attractions in other towns like Los Alamos, Chimayo and Taos.

What made even more wonderful were the attractive room rates from $135 - 190 until April 30. All of our party were quite pleased.

A perfect Get-a-way

by TripAdvisor Member KYTraveler7

The Nicholas Hacienda was perfect for our girlfriend get-a-way. Quaint, intimate, five star spa treatments, home made healthy breakfasts, and personal attention by a caring staff all came together to make our weekend memorable.
Location couldn't have been better with shops and restaurants and even the Cathedral within walking distance. We all agreed we'd be back!

Great location--very friendly

by TripAdvisor Member Travel_visitor

The friendliness of the staff was apparent as soon as we arrived. They offered suggestions on what to see, where to eat, helped get reservations, and gave directions--without being pushy at any time. The 5:00 social hour was a must--most of the guests returned to share details of their day and give suggestions on good places to have dinner. Several guests were "repeat" visitors.
The rooms were not huge, but comfortable, with nice bath facilities. The family/dining room was always available with snacks, coffee, and tea. All was decorated with a southwestern theme, so those of us from a different part of the country got right into the spirit.
This B&B is close to the Plaza, galleries, church, restaurants and other places to see. While we have not normally stayed at B&Bs while we traveled, this experience may change our minds.

Wonderful weekend

by TripAdvisor Member tedingman

We stayed in the Nicolas room/suite and our friends stayed in another
room, which also opened directly onto the courtyard. Our room had a gas fireplace and the fireplace in our friends' room burned wood. A new fire was laid every day.

We had a wonderful time and found the staff friendly and helpful, and
very talented when it came to fixing breakfast or snacks. We thought the fees were well worth our outlay, when we considered what we received in return. The location is excellent also; we could walk to many restaurants and the old downtown.

One of the best B&Bs

by TripAdvisor Member over50traveller

We spent four days and nights at the Hacienda Nocholas in Santa Fe. It was a lovel;y, warm, relaxing, and welcoming experience. Our room had a fireplace which we used constantly, a comfortable sitting room and an exquisitely comfortable bed. Out our front door was a patio with tables and chairs. and around the corner was the sitting/eating/gathering room., always with some goodie to eat, tea and coffee at all hours and comfortable couches and chairs to read and visit. We recieved much good advice about places to eat and visit and lots of great conversation with other guests and the employees who were invariably helpful and fun. The Nicholas is within easy walking distance of the plaza. We left everyday fortified with an excellent breakfast. It's the only place we will stay in Santa Fe. Nothing else can compare!
