More about Hotel Santa Fe

Santa Fe's Jewel

by A TripAdvisor Member

The Santa Fe's Hacienda with its spacious rooms, attentive staff, inclusive breakfast is a great bargain. Our four night stay was wonderful, and we also enjoyed the spa amenity. The "hand and foot treatment" was so relaxing, and the therapist could not have been better. Also the free parking, and the shuttle service to the plaza is much appreciated. We will visit next year for sure!

Pleased with Hotel Santa Fe accommodations

by A TripAdvisor Member

5/18/05 -- Just returned from staying at the Hotel Santa Fe for 5 days and 5 nights.

The staff was friendly and accommodating, and our room with a sitting area and balcony was very comfortable. I particularly enjoyed the fabulous coffee that was available early each morning in the commons area of our floor.--much better than those instant coffee machines available in some hotel rooms.

The bathroom was small but clean -- size was not important to us.

Having an outside eating area was important to me and the food was good.

We drove to the Plaza -- however, they provide a shuttle if you don't have a car.

If you stay there, be sure to talk to the ladies in the gift shop -- they are very knowledgeable and love sharing information about Indian culture.

Beutiful decor, Service much below average - NOT 4 STAR!

We stayed in a Suite at the Hacienda. The decor was beautiful. Lot's of art and really nice colors. The food was excellent. The Hacienda is access controlled via room card. That's where the compliments end.

The 'Butler' idea is a joke. It is simply a couple of guys that attend to the entire Hacienda. When you dial them their phone does not show what room you are calling from and you have to tell them every time - what a pain. They are pleasant and nice, but not very helpful. A great many "I don't knows" and having you do things yourself. I think they are carrying a cell phone is why there is no caller ID for the rooms.

We had room service 2 times and the food was great but they made many errors. They did not bring service for 3 one time and even when realizing it didn't get another service. They did not set up the table - fold it out and set the places. For 18% gratuity and a 2$ delivery charge, that is unacceptable. They did not get the orders correct. The Buffalo burgers were excellent and cooked rare to medium rare. This is, fortunately, how we like them. The never asked us what temperature we liked our burgers. Most people would have not accepted them this way. They also charged 18% for bringing a $60 bottle of wine that they did not even uncork. The second time they did not even bring a table for full dinner for 3! When I asked, “where’s the table?”, the response was “Oh, you want a table?”. They did bring one and only set it up after I asked him when he was getting ready to leave.

We went to the pool at 6:30pm after shopping and there were no fresh towels for us and about 10 other guests. We waited over an hour until someone called the desk and someone came out with about 8 towels. They were quickly gone and by now only half the guests had towels. They have menus hanging from the umbrellas, but at no time did anyone ask us for drink orders or food orders during 1 ½ hours.

We arrived Santa Fe in our private plane and the hotel had no clue on how to accommodate transfers. We had to take a taxi both ways. For a 4 star rating this is also unacceptable. They have private transportation vehicles and they should use these with a reasonable transfer fee.

In summary, the décor and ambiance is excellent. They are a long walk from the plaza, short walk to the farmers and art market. The service is below average. The Hacienda is beautiful and quiet, but taking service into consideration, is not worth it.

Elegant and friendly

My wife and I spent 3 nights at the Hotel Santa Fe in mid May. The public rooms and our accomodations were beautifully decorated. The staff went out of their way to address our requests. The hotel offers a driving service; they will take guests to nearby locations or pick them up. We took advantage of this service a couple of times. Highly recommended!

Good Location, Nice Hotel

by TripAdvisor Member jtooley

The Hotel is about a 10min walk from the plaza, but close enough for a nice walk into the plaza. The hotel also offers a free on-demand shuttle/taxi service to anywhere in town. For example, we took the taxi to Whole Foods.

We had a king suite, and my brother had a junior suite. Not much difference except the king suite was a little bigger, and had a larger bed. The hotel has free wireless. The wireless worked in the rooms and at the pool.

The pool was nice, especially for the kids. The pool has food and drink service so it was really nice for letting the kids unwind while the adults could relax.

Its a little expensive. We got the Expedia discount, but I still found it expensive. There are definitely less hotels near the plaza, but if you need a more full service hotel then this is a good choice.
