Santa Fe Tip

Kachinas are a typical feature of the southwest. They are really dolls for children, made by their Indian parents to teach them about their gods. Nowadays, Kachinas are pieces of art which may sell at outrageos prices, but you can also get one for $ 30.
The most common mistake made...
by emmalola
The most common mistake made by travelers is forgetting that people do live in Santa Fe and do depend on the tourist dollar for their paycheck. There is a certain tension between those who live and work there and those who play there. When visiting Santa Fe, treat it like you would the home of any esteemed host who is gracious enough to extend their open arms of welcoming to you. And remember- things don't move as fast in Santa Fe. They don't need to, and you're on vacation, so you don't need them to either. Relax, enjoy and let the warm welcome take you in. Oh- and eat a lot of green chili. yummmmm.
Soak Away Your Tensions Amid the Pines

Soak and maybe try a massage, facial or other treatment at 10,000 Waves up Artists Road, which becomes the Ski Basin Road. The setting is superb. There are communal tubs or you can reserve a private tub for up to 8 I think. Everything is well done. Authentic. Beautifully constructed Japanese architecture. The water is treated through ionization and peroxide? It is much better, healthier, gentler, than chlorinated.
Salinas National Monument

This is not really in Santa Fe but is south of I-40.
The monument consists of the ruins of three ancient pueblos:
Gran Quivira
Quarai
Abo
This is definitely worth the visit if you have the time.
Authentic Native American goods
by karenincalifornia about Native American Bazaar
Daily, from early morning until 4:00 pm, Native American vendors spread their blankets and goods underneath the overhang along the Palace of Governors. You can find some really good deals here on exquisitely designed jewelry. The bazaar is nationally famous.
If you see something you really like, you'd better buy it on the spot, rather than think about it. My daughter saw a Zuni bracelet that she liked a lot. She didn't find anything she liked better anywhere else, so the next day we went back. The woman who was selling the bracelet wasn't there, much to my daughter's disappointment.
