Las Palomas the Best
by TripAdvisor Member jcsf
My wife and I had a great weekend in Santa Fe a few weeks ago, thanks very much to the wonderful amenities and staff of Las Palomas. We have stayed at Las Palomos several times over the years, and it just keeps getting better. Our studio adobe casita was beautifully appointed; the homemade complementary breakfasts were delicious, and the staff was always as friendly as could be. The personal attention of the owner, Neil Rosenshein, is evident throughout the property, and he is often on-site, greeting guests and offering recommendations for a great visit. The location is ideal, and allowed us to walk to the Plaza in five minutes. I travel a great deal in my business, and have opportunities to stay at some of the finest hotels in great cities. I can honestly say that Las Palomas is my favorite of all. It really is unique and embodies all the characteristics that make Santa Fe a great vacation destination.
Charming

I was a bit skeptical when we pulled into the parking lot, but what a surprise I got once we stepped inside the office to the smell of fresh baked cookies. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. Each room is like a little villa. They include a bedroom, living room and small kitchen. The bathroom is modern and very clean. The sheets were soft as butter, a real bonus in my boook.Furnishings are true to the Santa Fe arts that surround you in this town. We had a gas fireplace. I understand some units have wood burning. There are brick pathways and small courtyards throughout. I'm sure in the spring the flowers will be beautiful. Breakfast is served each morning and includes your choice of blueberry, chocolate chip, or plain waffles if you like. Specialty coffees are also included. The square is about a 3-5 minute walk where you find tons of restaurants, museums, shopping, and art galleries. I would highly recommend Las Palomas to everyone I know. Be sure to also visit Nirvana Spa for a hot stone massage by one of their master therapists. Talk about Heaven!!
Confirmation Over-Charge

Over-Charging.
I also had a reservation at this hotel. I pre-paid the deposit and when my credit card statement came in, it was wayyyy over the amount that I had a printed confirmation on. I called the hotel and they told me someone had entered a higher price. The girl I spoke to was pleasant enough, but I really didn't feel like they actually cared that someone from that hotel had taken it upon themselves to over-charge me.
I was not impressed with how I was treated and have cancelled the reservation.
I don't care how nice of a hotel it is, if an employee misuses a customer's credit card, that's a kiss of death. They'll never see me and I will never recommend that hotel to anyone.
Wonderful stay in Santa Fe.

We had stayed at Las Palomas 4 years ago. Our casita was nice, but rough around the edges. When we planned our most recent trip to Santa Fe, we decided to try Las Palomas once again. I am so very happy that we did!
The property is now managed by Hotel Santa Fe, and the customer service is markedly better than when it was under the management of the El Dorado. I booked the studio casita for a rate of $110 per night. Upon our arrival, we were given a complimentary upgrade to a full size casita on the "territorial" side of the property (unit #30). The unit was just wonderful--tastefully decorated, immaculately clean, tvs in both the living room and bedroom, small kitchenette with breakfast nook, private deck, gas fireplace. The bathroom had been updated and included a slate vanity. Our only complaint was with the rather lumpy bed. Pillows, though, were fabulous.
Complimentary breakfast is offered from 7 - 10 every morning. Offerings include bagels, fresh fruit, hardboiled eggs, cereals, instant oatmeal, made-to-order waffles, variety of juices, hot tea and coffee.
Las Palomas is located immediately south of the historic plaza area. If you are accustomed to walking, you'll enjoy the location. You can park your car at Las Palomas (which offers complimentary parking--a rarity among many hotels in Santa Fe) and enjoy a nice walk to the Plaza. It's an even easier walk to the O'Keefe museum. As with most lodging choices in Santa Fe, it's a stretch to easily walk the entire Canyon Road area, so you will most likely need a car at some point. We walked to dinner both nights and only used the car when going to the museums on the edge of town.
Las Palomas is a tremendous value by most Santa Fe standards. We'll definitely stay there again, and I very much recommend it.
Nice, relaxing casita close to downtown
by TripAdvisor Member hmlo96
We just returned from a 5 day/4 night stay at Las Palomas in Santa Fe. We were very happy with our casita. The separate bedroom from the living room was especially nice. Wireless internet was availbale in each room. The living room was spacious with a small kitchenette, sofa and gas fireplace. Although the bathrooms showed some age they were still clean.
Continental breakfast each morning offered blueberry, strawberry and plain made-to-order belgian waffles.
The hotel also provided a book full of restaurant menus to help you decide on your nightly dinner.
The walk to downtown and the Plaza was an easy walk and only a few blocks away. Access was easy as the hotel sits right on San Francisco St. and shops are only about 3 blocks away.
