    As in most places we've stayed in the U.S., especially out of the big cities, the service was very good and very friendly. Would definitely recommend others to stay here for skiing at Taos Ski Valley, not to visit Taos township itself. It also offers packages in other seasons as well with other activities other than the skiing available during winter.

    Meals were excellent in their restaurant whether it was breakfast, lunch or dinner. Of course it had the obligatory spa/whirlpool to help ease the aches after a day's exertions in your lesson then free skiing afterwards. Taking a guess at what prices would be today just below so please advise me otherwise if I'm wrong.

    We really loved our stay at the Chimeneas B&B in Nov 2000. It is a lovely old adobe inn, restored and nicely kept up - a bit secluded off the main drag in Taos, and full of ambience. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting special treatment. We got a great deal by looking on their website 5 months in advance and planning our stay accordingly. http://www.visittaos.com/

    They offer several very nice suites with access to private and/or shared hot tubs, sauna and community spaces. They emphasize special attention and the breakfasts are superb - very deluxe, delicious and gourmet dishes, offered in a beautiful setting. Pricey but worth splurging!

    The motel was a full service hotel with its own convention center. The room here was very nice and different. There was definitely a local influence on the architecture of the motel. The motel offers Native American Dancing, which was an excellent show. A great bonus which you do not normally see at a typical motel.     Motel has a outdoor pool with spa and a full service restaurant. Motel is located about 1/2 mile from Taos Plaza and 1 mile from Taos Pueblo.

    We stayed right after Christmas 03 and it was a great experience - snow and winter in the mountains, and just a 45-minute drive to the valley of White Sands Nat'l Monument it was sunny and warm. The place is sweet and cozy and special and the two gals are devoted and want you to have a completely perfect stay.

    Indoor hot-tub with workout equipment, great views out every window in the place - we saw a head of elk come at dusk to within 200 yards of the front door! They will bring you breakfast to your bedroom or to the patio or you can eat in the common area. They let you place a special order the day before and they give you lots of peace and quiet - very romantic. They have videos, magazines, games, lots you can do there.

  • This is a former Holiday Inn. We had a suite for $70 (five years ago). There is a fireplace in the main room and a small refrigerator. The pool is covered but still outdoors. It is a good size pool and is very lovely in the evening with the lights glowing in the water. There is a very nice gathering area around the pool. We thought it was a great family place to stay in the summer and I'm sure skiers enjoy it too with the doors opening right by the area to park the car. I would stay there again.

    Great pool and plenty of room to sit together around the fire in our suite.

  • If you like staying right in the midst of it all, I recommend the Taos Inn – very close to the plaza and Bent Street shops, galleries and many restaurants. The inn is known as the “living room of Taos” and has music many evenings in the lounge. While the atmosphere is wonderful and visited by locals as well as tourists, you may enjoy dining elsewhere. Prices vary depending on room style and season.

    Historic rooms are smallish but quaint. Bar and lounge area with indoor and outdoor areas. The nachos are very popular. This is not a 123 channel TV type place or at least not when I stayed there (smile).

  • If you stay down in Rancho de Taos the accommodations are much cheaper. I think Taos Motel is the name. Two story, single strip of rooms parallel with road. Office is seperate small building out near road. $48 US per room /2 people

    Has all the basics, but usually not hot tubs.
