Not too bad
Fairly close to the plaza - about a 10 minute walk. They offer a free hot breakfast. The pool is heated. Some pets are allowed but you have to ask first.
We had adjoining rooms and the A/C really only worked in one. The other one tried but couldn't keep up. One room had problems with a breaker tripping - if the girls used the hair dryer the whole room would go dark.
Every evening at 7:00 they have some native dancers.

Best Western Kachina Lodge
The motel was a full service hotel with its own convention center. The room here was very nice and different. There was definitely a local influence on the architecture of the motel. The motel offers Native American Dancing, which was an excellent show. A great bonus which you do not normally see at a typical motel. For more information on the Indian Dancing See my Indian Dancing Travelogue
Unique Quality: Motel has a outdoor pool with spa and a full service restaurant. Motel is located about 1/2 mile from Taos Plaza and 1 mile from Taos Pueblo.

To be honest, the steak I had was not that very good. They didn't even leave butter for my baked potato. One of the rare disaster of a meal that I had. Do yourself a favor and go downtown for dinner. The breakfast buffet here wasn't that very good either. Either I picked the wrong time to be here or someone needs a lesson on food quality.

"Indian Dancing"
The Best Western Kachina Lodge is on the Taos Pueblo Indian Reservation. A group from the nearby reservation comes to the Kachina Lodge and does an Indian Dance routine. It was a great bonus considering most motels do not have live entertainment. Please note that I did not personally attend this. My mother and father attended this while I went out chasing sunset pictures. So I will not be narrating too much on this travelogue. But some of the pictures my mother got were quite interesting
"Dancing Poolside"
A view of the pool.
"Fascinating Costumes"
The costumes were just fabulous.
"More Indian Dancing"
Dancing around the fire.
"Another Fascinating Costume"
This was another great costume.
"Group Dancing"
Here is the whole group dancing around. This was a great way to learn about the native New Mexican culture.
"Must Have Done a Raindance"
My mother told me that they did a raindance. It worked!!! Here is a thunderstorm I took a picture of while they were doing their dancing.
