More about Sierra Grande Lodge & Spa
Very Impressed with Sierra grande
My husband & I stayed at the Sierra Lodge last weekend for a little R & R. We were very impressed with everything. The staff were all very friendly and the room was nicer than we expected. Everything was immaculately clean and well furnished. The room had a great tub built for 2. The provided soap and shampoo was a really nice organic line that smelled great. We enjoyed an excellent breakfast and dinner in their restaraunt as well. The restaraunt is very romantic and nice. I would definitely stay here again.
Love the Sierra Grande
My husband & I stayed at the Sierra Grande. The owner did not miss a beat with the ambiance! The aroma, cozy rooms, food, mineral baths, etc. were amazing. We did not enjoy our massage with Kim, but aside from that it was a truly pleasant stay. In Santa Fe for something of this calliber, it would have been $200 and up! What a nice treat. We will be back in Feb!!
We stayed at Sierra Grande Lodge quite by accident. We couldn't get back home to northern New Mexico because of highway closures due to snow. We were stunned to drive up to the front of this gorgeous place! We were met in the lobby by the nicest young woman. She took such good care of us. Our room was really nice and very inexpensive. The restaurant was very good, moderately priced and the staff was excellent. We had the outdoor mineral bath under the stars! Candles & a pitcher of tasty water. We could have stayed for days and are planning to go back soon! The town of T or C is quirky and not impressive at first glance. Art galleries, book stores, interesting exotic used clothing places, If you're into exploring and delightful surprises, this town is for you. Yes, there are cheaper places in town, but consider yourself worth it to have a wonderful experience at the Sierra Grande.
A True Gem
Our family stayed at the Sierra Grande Lodge during our recent trip through New Mexico. We enjoyed every moment of it and were sorry we could not stay longer. The rooms were well-furnished and comfortable, and the mineral bath soaks were delightful. The food in the restaurant was excellent (although the desserts were only average). The staff could not have been more accomodating; although we hadn't made prior appointments for the mineral spas (we hadn't been told and - foolishly - had not checked Trip Advisor), they were able to work us in eventually. We also met a lovely couple from Albuquerque who insisted that we go to The Owl in nearby San Antonio for green chile cheeseburgers (and we were glad we did). Similar facilities in more upscale NM towns like Santa Fe and Taos would cost twice as much, so this hotel is a true find.
A very comfortable place if you go with the right expectations
Best things about the Sierra Grande: Personable, eager-to-help staff, comfortable rooms with great beds, excellent showers and hot tubs, nice arts-and-crafts furniture (at least in our room). The spa services are up-to-par with any full spa. I had the best deep tissue massage of my life with Andre. The place is softly, not overwhelmingly, infused with natural fragrances, and the outdoor mineral bath is a lot of fun. The front and back of the hotel are nicely landscaped and full of local blooms, and it was a pleasure to sit on the front porch for our continental breakfast.
T or C is NOT Santa Fe or even Taos, however. The town is funky to the point of being a little seedy, so if that's not your kind of adventure, you'll want to make plans for day trips. Our view of Turtleback Mountain was beyond a couple municipal buildings and not particularly picturesque businesses. Although we spoke to folks at the hotel a few times before we arrived, arranging various treatments, no one told us that the restaurant was temporarily closed. Apparently this is an occasional problem, as the owner works to find chefs of a certain caliber, who eventually tire of the sloooow pace of life in T or C and move on.
So: it pays to ask about the status of the restaurant and to plan your trip to the area before you arrive. But if you are looking for a really comfortable location from which to explore southwestern New Mexico, with a relaxing soak or massage in the bargain, the Sierra Grande may be a great spot for you.
This is the place to stay!
The Sierra Grande Lodge and Spa is a truly amazing place to stay. The
rooms are immaculate, the staff is thoughtful and attentive, and the mineral baths are wonderful. Even the continental breakfast was a real treat with fresh-baked scones, fruit and really good coffee. I would highly recommend this lodge to any adult who wants to get away and feel pampered.
Enjoyed our stay!!
We selected this lodge because we were on our way home to Tucson from Santa Fe. We wanted to see what Truth or Consequences was like and to experience a mineral bath. The staff was friendly and helpful. The mineral bath was invigorating. Our room was immaculate and cozy. The continental breakfast was a treat. In our opinion, the town has nothing to offer a tourist. However, if you just want to getaway and do nothing or experience a hot mineral bath, we highly recommend this place. We will definitely be back!! Thank you Sazi, Margaret, Jeremy, and the rest of the staff!!
Impeccably well kept, attentive service beyond our expectations
My wife and I spent a night recently at the Lodge as part of a little getaway to SW New Mexico.
From the initial phone contact to check out, this is an impeccably well run establishment. The price of our room was a bona fide value and the effort and congeniality put forth by everyone employed there was outstanding.
Our room at Sierra Grande was very well appointed for the price, spotlessly clean and very tastefully decorated.
Even a one night stay at SGL includes a mineral pool soak both on the day you arrive and even in the morning before you depart.
The little touches to make it special were everywhere, the pool was immaculate and really hit the spot after a long day's drive.
The continental breakfast was abundant, simple and above what we expected quality wise.
This is a very nice property that is well cared for, skips the big city pretension other spas pile on, offers as many spa services and amenities as any big town spa and the place is very relaxing to be in due to the staff, decor and high quality approach.
Unwind and Relax Real Fast
Seems like the middle of nowhere...away from civilization in a town that looks like your going back in time with half of its storefronts all closed. At first glance you wonder how this is going to work out. Once you register, the work stress starts to melt. The staff was great and very attentive and accommodating. The rooms were clean and neat. Loved the big bath and shower in the room. That evening I booked the private room with the mini pool for our hot mineral bath. They drain and refill the pool for each guest. Walked to the local grocery store and bought a bottle of New Mexico wine that was delicious. Drank it in the lobby on the big leather sofa. There are a couple of excellent restaurants nearby. Breakfast brought fresh hot muffins and banana scones. Very inexpensive for what you get! Recommend it highly.
This is a nice, clean spot to hang out in T or C. The place has been extensively remodeled and totally met our expectations. Room was small but comfortable, staff was friendly and helpful, therapies were professional and relaxing, tub rooms were clean and therapeutic. Loved the flowering aloe in the front garden. Too bad the restaurant was closed...but maybe one day T or C can support what the owner seems to have a vision for.
Overall a pleasant weekend stay...would recommend and return.
