Actually I just spent half a day in Albany...I wanted to spot the Capitol and all the modern State buildings (NY state being the 2nd most populated state of the USA...I thought it would be big).
I did not really found the city attractive...but I may be wrong due to lack of time. Here is a picture of the Capitol.
Their web-site says that they have been rated the #1 seafood restaurant in the Albany area for 17 straight years. I would have to say that my meal was quite tasty and most dishes were priced at US$18 and up, typical of most of the restaurants in the area. On this second evening in the city, the Blackened Mahi-Mahi looked interesting to me. It was accompanied by hot home-made bread, coleslaw and I picked seasonal vegetables (green beans and carrots) as my final option (choice of garden rice pilaf, boiled red skin potatoes or stewed tomatoes). A cold glass of Newcastle Brown Ale helped to wash the meal down.
On just about any street you walk down in Albany you are bound to find a beautiful church you will want to stop and admire. When SES and I were taking a brief walk up State St. I saw this wonderful church and just had to snap a picture or two, OK three, but who's counting. The current church was built in 1859 after two other churches had been built and demolished for various reasons. The present day church was designed by Richard Upjohn and built nearly identical to his specifications, the exceptions were the placement of the vestry room and the tower. The church is constructed from Schnectady Blue Stone. For further detail about the architecture of the church see the web site.
Helll I used To live here but got way smart and moved south to where it's not clod and it dosent snow!. The only good thing i remember about Albany is the food ...Smitty's pizza......and well thats really all ........get smart move south......Albany isnt even a nice place to visit!
