Travel Tips for Alexandria Bay

The Alexandria Bay has a lot more marinas than it does churches or centers of worship.
Maybe it is a mis-placed sense of priorities.
There are three main places of worship in the immediate area:
BAPTIST... Alex Bay Baptist Church... Bolton Avenue... 315-482-3426
METHODIST... United Methodist Church... 2 Rock Street... 315-482-9357
REFORMIST... Reformed Church... 545 Church Street... 315-482-9976
Nearest synagogue is in Watertown.
Adirondack Jewish Center... 223 J B Wise Place... 315-782-2527
Nearest Presbyterian Church is in Hammond.
Presbyterian Church... 215 St Lawrence Avenue... 315-324-5665
Nearest Lutheran Church is in Watertown.
Concordia... 818 Arsenal Street... 315-782-1260
Nearest Catholic Church is in Clayton
St. Mary's... 515 Mary Street... 315-686-2638
Municipal Golf Course
by davecallahan
This is a rinky-dink 9-hole course that is fun to play as long as you are not too serious about golf. You can get some good exercise and some fresh air and nice scenery. All for $20 including a cart (which you probably won't need).
The long course is 3200 yards and the short course is 2900 yards. It is basically a farmers field that has been landscaped and mowed into fairways. Some trees along the perimeter of the fairways but the holes are so short that they really do not come into play. Bunkers near the greens are the only hazards. Bent grass is used on the greens, which are small and difficult to read.
There are no amenities (pro-shop, clubhouse) and no driving range.
This is made for duffers like me who think of golf as chasing a little white ball across the fields.
Alexandria Bay, NY.... Gateway to the 1000 Islands

wikipedia info:
1100 people in 500 homes with 250 families making $35000 a year.
If it is water related, then Alex Bay has it.
Boating: available to those with their own craft to launch or rowboats/kayaks to rent or scenic boat rides/tour to buy.
Fishing: in the town itself from pier or small boat or in one of the state parks just down the road.
Hiking and Biking: trails along the river give great views while you get your exercise.
Catch a boat ride to Boldt Castle or Singer Castle or to visit one of the other thousand islands.

Small Town, Famous History
by AnneAlex
This small Bay town used to be the playground for millionaires who wanted to show off their fancy boats and island hop for hunting adventures. Today it's a quaint town where visitors are most often just passing through in order to get to Heart Island. There's a decent Jazz & Blues festival that happens Labor Day weekend, which you can read about our tips for the area.
