Moving to Brooklyn...

by doy

Hi, need a little help here.

I'm moving to Brooklyn in January, and looking for an 1 bedroom apartment. I'll be working at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center. Would like to know which areas are safe for staying. If anyone has good suggestions, please let me know.

Thank you in advance.

Happy New Year everyone!!!

check out www.craigslist.com

Wyckoff Heights Medical Center... that's in Bushwick, right? What price range are you looking for? The area should be fine. Also Williamsburg, Greenpoint, Fort Greene, Cobble Hill, and Park Slope, to name a few.. it depends on the kind of neighborhood, and how much you want to spend

Travel Tips for Brooklyn

Coney Island

by seagoingJLW

Although just a shadow of its former self, Coney Island still houses the New York Aquarium which is worth visiting. There are still many games of chance (read Skee Ball, etc.) And some rides remain....the Parachute Drop, for instance.

Nautical Themed Lounge and Bar

by cjg1 about The Wheelhouse Bar (Caribbean Princess)

The Wheelhouse Bar is a nautical themed lounge on the Caribbean Princess. The lounge is quite large and has massive amounts of seating as well as a bar and a stage for nightly entertainment. I loved the nautical decor with old tall ship lithographs, pictures, ship models and paintings. To me it was the perfect place to hang and enjoy some drinks.

During the day Liz and I came here to relax, read and enjoy a cocktail or two( JW Blue for me, and wine or a Spaten for my wife).

A New York tradition

by BLewJay about Junior's Most Fabulous Cheesecakes & Desserts

I had heard about this famous place from watching Rachel Ray on the Food Network ($40 a Day) and wanted to try it...especially for the cheesecake. Well after venturing to NYC a few times to visit family, I finally had the opportunity to do just that. LJ and I shared a 10 oz. Char-broiled Bacon Cheeseburger on a toasted bun which came with Onion Rings & Steak Fries. For dessert, we were going to try their famous cheesecake, but my cousin said to try the Fresh Strawberry Cheese Pie. OMG!!!

Bensonhurst - True Brooklyn Italian

by TempNomad about Il Colosseo

This is a delicious must-experience place. It's fantastic Italian food, and the restaurant is lovely - the perfect mix between formal and casual - and the atmosphere is what you've read about, but never thought REALLY existed. If you're not from around here, that is.

The pizzas are incredibly good. It's a brick oven place. And the dishes of pasta and soups and salads are all amazing. Really!

It's a bit of a wait for the food, but that's a good thing. They give you a little bruschetta while you wait, and there's always a basket of bread on the table for you. I love the pizzas. There's an artichoke pizza that's just divine. The appetizers are all lovely as well.
