Accomodations in Brooklyn Heights

by Kate0309

Am visiting a relative in Brooklyn Heights with my 6-year-old. Looking for safe and inexpensive accomodations in that area. Have found names of St. George Hotel, Bossert Hotel, and Awesome B&B. Awesome has a Web site with prices. Cannot find any other information on rates or (esp. important for me, since I can call for rates) travelers' reviews of these ratings. Please advise if you know about these places, or if you have other places to recommend. Cannot afford the Marriott. Thanks.

I used to live around the corner from the St. George. The building is now mostly student housing for various colleges around the area, so as long as you can deal with lots of college student around, the location is pretty perfect. Literally upstairs from the 2,3 trains at Hicks Street (the station is in the St. G's basement!). Some of my favorite restaurants in the City are right there. Try Henry's End! St. G is also three blocks to the Brooklyn Promenade. As for the interior and prices, I have no idea.

For some reason I think the Bossert is connected to The Watchtower organization.

Check and click on sublets, maybe you can find some short term places.

Good luck!

Travel Tips for Brooklyn

The Grand Army Plaza

by Nathalie_B

Located in the busiest intersection of Brooklyn, the memorial to the defenders of the Union in the Civil War on the Grand Army Plaza can be compared to the Arc de Triumph in Paris. If you happened to be in Brooklyn, start your tour from this point. Take a look inside the arc, you’ll find the art gallery and the view on the Prospect Park and Manhattan. The Grand Army Plaza is situated right in front of one of many entrances to the Prospect Park (Brooklyn version of Central Park), this one is the most impressive. Just across the road from there you’ll see the Brooklyn Public Library with its beautifully designed front door. If you keep walking a little bit further on Prospect Park West street, you’ll find the Brooklyn Museum of Art and the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. From there go back to the Prospect Park and enjoy the nature of Brooklyn, unless you’re interested in participating in one of many activities which this park offers.
To get there: Trains 2,3, and Q

Prospect Park

by el_ruso

This huge public park was designed by the same architect (Olmstead) who did the Central Park in Manhattan. This is a pleasant place to visit and walk around, but is not nearly as nice as the Central Park.

Find the rest yourself...

by twohandgrab

I have given the best examples of night life in Williamsburg, but find your own spot, you'll like it that much more. there is something for everyone; be it Rockabilly, Reggae, Electronica, or my favorite: a well stocked jukebox. There is plenty to do, but be fearless in your attempt to have will earn the respect that will get you into the harder to find places. It's also always good to either be, or be with, a few hot girls.

Goodfellas,(pizza Rest.), Circles Grill(Continental) ST.Michel(French), Sally & George's( Mideastern)
Areio's (Italian), these are some of the Cuisines in Bay Ridge. Bensonhurst on 18th Ave. which for me is considered Little Italy has some great restaurants and Cafe's. Il Coloseo is a resaurant for you if your in the mood for Italian atmosphere and entree's there are more in the other areas. To many to mention.
P.S Mambo Itliano is also good, they have large entree's, special for two and karaoki for the guests accompanied occasionly by a famous singer. All

New in the 'Burg

by chodearm about Williamsburgh Cafe

The place is cavernous, They got a Old Williamsburgh feel that stretches through the front cafe, the back bar and front outdoor seating. But what will really hook you and lure you in is the huge garden room in the back. Ask to see it, believe me you will stay. One suggestion to the restaurant is please let this space be known, its so hidden and the cafe up front isn't really swinging candy in front of kids hungry eyes. The waitstaff was extremely friendly, names basis only, and the food was deliche. Not just another resturant in Brooklyn but another FABULOUS resturant in Brooklyn.
