Nice hotel
by TripAdvisor Member Tyme
From reading some of the reviews here I was a little hesitant to book here, but I did book on-line for renovated superior room. I as not disappointed!
Drive from Toronto to hotel went very smoothly, easy drive (border at Queenston-Lewiston took awhile though). Found the hotel right by the Walden Galleria Mall.
Very nice hotel. Check-in went smoothly and quickly. Room on 6th floor was very nice with 2 queen beds (very comfortable) and chair with ottoman.
Found everyone there very nice, from front desk, maid, waiters, waitresses, they were very pleasant.
Ate at the restaurant for breakfast twice and found the food okay.
Had dinner once at the mall and also at the Olive Garden.
No complaints except maybe it was a little expensive for the room, but that's okay for the surety of a nice hotel!!!
Terrible, Terrible, Terrible!!!!

It was the worst hotel experience I have ever had. The front desk clerk put us on the first floor and after looking at the room, I wanted to check out immediately. The rooms are old and out of date. Mold in the bathroom, tiles cracked, faucets from the 50's and roaches in the floor. The bedroom wasn't any better- the sheets were very thin and the room was just dirty. I booked two rooms and the second room wasn't any better. It had drawers that were broken and hanging off. The room doors didn't lock well and were hard to use. We were located near an outside entrance which did not lock at all. Our group was very afraid for our safety. People were coming and going all hours of the night. None of us slept and were happy to check out at 5:30am to get to the airport. We chose this hotel because of it's location to the airport. It was not worth the dirty, unsafe room.
Great hotel for the price--100 for 125 deal :)

Had to be in Buffalo and needed a hotel. I remember reading on a travel website about the 100 food/booze credit for 125.00/night. So, before booking I read the reviews. Now, that being said, I have learned that some people expect the world at discount prices and therefore I use people's reviews merely as a guide on what to expect. So I booked and did the upgraded room for 135/night. I wanted the renovated rooms as one person wrote that the unrenovated rooms are in the 'atrium' with the doors entering onto the pool/atrium area where wedding are hosted on the weekends. And sure enough there was a wedding reception on the Sat night. Getting to the hotel is very easy to navigate from the queenston/lewiston bridge. Also the airport is very easy to get to also, first left on union, right on genessee and you are there in 5 minutes :)
The hotel is nice and clean--exactly what I expected for the price. The front desk associate was not the nicest, but that's a training issue that the manager should look into. It's interesting how some people are naturals at simple customer service skills (a sincere greeting and dialouge as opposed to a monologue) and other will always be insincere and lack lustre until they are coached on their short comings.
The room was nice and clean and exactly what the description and picture showed. I should note that a previous review spoke about the inefficient heating/cooling unit. They were correct and I will not stay in that hotel in the summer until they update these units. Remember it's October and cool outside and the nominal air flow was so bad, the room got really warm even at the coldest setting and it was only 47F / 10C outside. I can't imagine what it'd be like in the summer. The room has a desk chair and a great club chair with footrest, very comfortable.
The 100 food credit deal; GREAT. I expected inflated prices and a snooty restaurant. Totally wrong. On the first night it was late so we went to Twigs--the sports bar--and the server was great. We had 3 beers and 3 double crown and cokes and a munchies sampler plate (10.50) and 20 wings (?) and it all was only 40 something $'s with tax and tip. Note you can't use your 100 credit to pay the tips. The room service menu was great, and some great surprises were the cheese/fruit plate, french onion soup, cookies and milk and full breakfast / lunch / dinner options, including steak. The main restaurant--Walden's-- is very formal looking but they are not sticky on dress code, which is great for leisure travellers. The menu prices here were also very reasonable, offering a great selection of steaks, chicken, pork, and pasta, as well as the usual starters and sandwiches. The staff in the restaurant/bar is all very attentive and they definately know about customer service. N.B. The 100.00 credit is offered for each night you stay and can be used on the day of checkout, as long as it's prior to checkout--which is great for breakfast. Also, you don't need to use your 100.00 up each and every night you stay, so if you spend 80 the first day/night then you can in theory spend 120 the next if you are staying 2 nights.
One of the best I've been in. No complaints from me.

I was just reading an artical in the November issue of Electrical Construction and Maintenance, Volume 105 issue and would like to pass this on to you. The wall plug behind the bed in my room did come in contact with the bed. My light on the bed stand and clock radio went off/lost power. When I saw what was happening I pulled the bed away from the wall. In the National Electricical Code (210.60 (B)) - the receptacle shall be located so that the bed does not come in contact with the attachment plugs, or a suitable guard must be put in place. This could result in a electrical short in the wire and possible fire to the bedding.
The commidations and room were the best.
Thanks.
Barely passable as a 2 star hotel.

Shabby and in need of renovation and repair. If all you want is a bed to sleep in and not much else, this motel is a good deal.

colgan is a regional airline operating short haul flights for continental, us air, and united air thru a code share. i think they are privately held. buffalo as indicated above has plenty of carriers from the new york area. if you don't trust one, go to another airport and get a different one.

Nothing wrong with Colgan Air.

Colgan air is your best choice since they fly in and out of Newark since you need to get there for your return flight home.I agree with the other posts that they are ok to fly with.
