First time sleeping in Corning we stayed at Fairfield's. It was exactly what we needed, so, it became my hotel in Corning, and we stayed there again.
A warning: be careful if you use the hotel's phone. Some of my friends were presented with astronomic bills, charging even the failed atempts to connect.
Chain hotels are difficult for me to really describe, because it takes a lot to make one stand out in my mind. They have standards to maintain, and I've only encountered a couple in all my travels that didn't live up to the expectations.
Clean, enough towels (albeit, not the bigger softer ones of the really posh hotels), soap, little shampoo & conditioner, and body lotion, tvs with converters, telephone... yep, it was all there, and it was handy to get to from the highway.
Unique Quality: Handy to highway, and to town, and some of the restaurants for meals.
