Hotel on the Harbor
I have never had a need to stay at this hotel, neither when it was called the Botel, which it was for more than 30 years, nor now that it has been rechristened Hotel Ciel in a vain attempt to upgrade the property. A new name and a fresh coat of paint do not an upscale hotel make.
The reviews on TripAdvisor are not good. One reviewer says that it was like staying in the local jail’s holding cell! The building is constructed of cinder blocks; therefore the comparison fits.
The best arrangements for experiencing Fire Island Pines is to be part of a house share.
Unique Quality: It is conveniently located in the harbor/business district, close to the action. Which may also be a drawback, because the action can be loud and continue all night.
