 | New York State Reviews | Tips 1 - 10 of 34 | | We had booked a night at a spa in the nearby town of Ballston Spa, but we thought we would come up a day early to check out Saratoga Springs. I made a reservation online at the Hilton. Which was very fast and easy, not to mention a great deal. Though not exactly "walking distance" (especially in a freezing blizzard!), the Hilton is close to the center of town. Very comfortable accomodations and a friendly staff made our stay enjoyable. They even shoveled out our car!
here is a fireside lounge in the main lobby where some people sat having dinner (they ordered chinese) . Breakfast is available. You can include it with your reservation for an additional fee, or you can pay for the buffet style meal when you arrive. A pool, fitness room and spa are also on premises, as well as a convenient food pantry right by the concierge. . My favorite extra, was the mini fridge, microwave and coffee pot(with coffee and tea) located in our room. Another nice thing I found, was that all the toiletries were Neutrogena Leave a Comment

If you love to really live once in a while (splurge I mean ) and stay in a old Historic mansion than this is the place for you. You can stay in a real National Historic Landmark, the Belvedere Mansion with a history going back the earliest NY history. The Belvedere Mansion dates back to the 1760es but the history goes back even further to Pawling’s 1664 journey up the Hudson. The Belvedere is on over 20 aches and set into the Hudson with hiking trains and scenic views everywhere. It has the most elegant breakfast this Vter has ever had set in the poshest of dinning room. One can stay in the basic carrage house rooms for as little as $105 the posh rooms in the Masion are as much as $275 on the other end of the scale. The town of Ballston Spa is located just south of Saratoga Springs, just minutes of Rt 87. If you are in the area, or want to make a special trip for some serious pampering, The Medbery in is a very special place to stay. Our stay at the Marvelous Medbery Inn and Spa was my Christmas gift from Lou. Our very good friend Erin had been for her birthday, and she highly recommended a stay here. We had a wonderful time! It was a luxurious stay. At check in we were greeted by our hosts who had tea and fruit waiting for us. After a quick chat we were taken to our room, the George West. We entered to find the fire "lit", rose petals outside our door and sprinkled on the bed and the edges of our large hottub. They had left sparkling cider and strawberries for us, and chocolates on the desk. At 5, it was time for our mineral bath. While our host was running our bath, we waiting in the lounge-like lobby having tea. Our bath was in a private candle-lit room with juice in champagne glasses and some fruits and chocolates. Lovely. Sidenote-the area around Saratoga Springs is known for the healing powers of the mineral water springs. The Next morning we went down for breakfast. A lovely buffet was set out for us with cereal, cinnamon bread, fresh fruits, ect... A few minutes after our arrival to the Breakfast room, our host arrived and made us an omelet. Heavenly! Then I was off to my spa treatments. An hour long facial followed by an manicure and pedicure. Truly a decadent and relaxing experience!!! Leave a Comment

We thought this Econo Lodge was about average. We spent one night here and paid a Sixty Plus Rate of $55.10. The actual part of the hotel where the rooms are located is in a separate place in the back. There is no access to the lobby from the rooms. Econo Lodge is not part of the Choice privileges program so we were given no airline points. There is a fridge and a micro wave in the room but strangely, no coffee maker. There is a good selection of TV Channels and the lighting in the room was very good. The room was good size and things were clean but the bed was not good. The deluxe continental breakfast was served in a separate room in the lodging part of this place. It was right next to the pool area. Breakfast was a choice of two dry cereals, juice, bagels, toast and some pastry. The coffee was very good. No fresh fruit was offered. The pool here is great. There is no hot tub. Check-in and Check-out staff was very friendly.
I would have to say there are not really any outstanding characteristics about this Econo Lodge except it is clean and in a safe area for a very reasonable price. It's right off Interstate 87 and is a good place to be for getting to the ferry that goes to Vermont. This hotel was listed as #4 out of 12 hotels in Plattsburgh on www.tripadvisor.com and is a good place to stop for a night on a road trip. We spent two nights at the Golden Manor Motel in Hyde Park, NY. We had a quick, efficient check-in and were given a room at the very back of this place. The walls are paneled and the window treatments do not match either the carpet or the bedcovers. However the place is really clean. The sheets had been pressed and were very crisp - not a wrinkle in them! The mattress was not "up to date" but was OK. The carpet had a few stains but it was not old. The lights were florescent bulbs over the beds and over the various stands and counters. Very glaring and cold. The room was pretty good size. The bathroom was also very outdated but it was clean. They provided soap and shampoo in a packet. The towels were very thin. The continental breakfast was coffee with real half and half creamer, donuts and orange juice. There are only six hotels in Hyde Park which is a mystery to me. It is such a wonderful place to visit. Even if we had stayed four or five days we could not have seen and enjoyed all the things that are in the area. We paid $55 for a Senior Rate.
The rate of $55 was the best in the area. Leave a Comment Theme: MotelPrice: US$40-80 » Currency ConverterComparison: less expensive than averageAddress: Albany Post Road, Hyde Park, New YorkOther Contact: www.tripadvisor.com

I have included a Vermont place here because our trip included a one night "off the beaten path" from our New York travels. The MainStay is a place where you can spend several weeks or a night. It is located at the top of a hill behind a cluster of other places, and is rather difficult to locate. There is not enough parking for the MainStay guests. Our room had a kitchenette that had pots and pans and dishes to use to prepare meals. There was a coffee maker and coffee The Suite was spacious and the decor was nice and the lighting was good. The TV had plenty of Channels. The bathroom was very small but clean. I was rather surprised how thin and rough the towels and washcloths were. Ends were unraveling on the towels and they were crudely marked with the initials of a defunct hotel next door. The only thing offered in the bathroom was shampoo and soap. The lobby was very attractive with a fireplace that unfortunately was not turned on. It would have enhanced the cool fall evening a great deal. There was free Internet service in the lobby and breakfast was served there also. Free newspapers were available in the lobby. Breakfast was yogurt, fresh oranges, orange juice and apple juice, cold and hot cereal, bagels, pastries, donuts and peeled boiled eggs. The coffee was good. The swimming pool they advertised was in another building down the "hill". We had to drive to get to it and then walk through the other hotel. The pool was adequate but badly in need of upgrading and refurbishing. We paid $95.96 for a Sixty Plus Rate. Check-in and Check-out staff were friendly and helpful.
I would say we did not notice anything outstanding here. We did not get a room with a view most likely because we received a discount with the Sixty Plus Rate. We stayed here because it was in a good location to get to Shelburne Museum. This place was ranked #3 out of 12 places in South Burlington on www.tripadvisor.com. Most of the places here are very expensive. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherPrice: US$80-120 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: 1702 Shelburne Rd. You have to look carefully when arriving at the Quality Inn of Glens Falls or you might miss it. We found check in very friendly and helpful. The room was rather small for two double beds but looked nice with modern colors and a flat screen TV that had plenty of channels. There was a coffee maker and coffee in this room along with a microwave-fridge combo. The bathroom had good towels, washclothes and shanpoo, rinse and body lotion. There was a phone in the bathroom. The counter top in the bathroom looked like real granite and was in good condition. The lobby was decorated nicely and had free Internet service. They kept their packaged hot chocolate and hot water out all the time we were there. Breakfast was good with Yogurt, peeled boiled eggs, bagels, pastries, hot and cold cereal, orange juice and apple juice. Their coffee was good. They did not offer any fresh fruit. The indoor pool was small but right near the front desk for easy accessibility. It was kept up quite well. We paid $63.20 for a Sixty Plus rate here and I would say the overall value for what we paid here was excellent.
I thought the lobby was decorated nicely. There are a lot of good restaurants around this area within easy driving distance. We stayed four nights at this Super 8 in Liverpool. It was only about 3.5 miles from downtown Syracuse and was right off Interstate 81. One of the purposes of this trip was to include some genealogy work at the Onondaga County Public Library, and to take some day trips to cemeteries in nearby towns and cities. I thought the lobby and breakfast area was rather drab and dreary. The room we had was right around the corner from the lobby and it was quite nice. The beds were comfortable, the room was clean and the lighting was good. The overall appearance is that of a place needing updating. There was no hairdryer or coffee maker in the room. However, there always was coffee in the lobby, and the staff was very friendly, helpful and available. I didn't care for the breakfast. It consisted of two choices of dry cereal, bananas every day, packaged sweet rolls, coffee and juice. On the weekend doughnuts were offered. The coffee was very good and they did have flavoured creamer.
Other than the good location and price, there was nothing unique about this place. We paid an AARP rate of $63 a night for three nights and $89 for Friday night.
