Really Nice!
by A TripAdvisor Member
Our family stayed at this Holiday Inn over July 4th. The room was quite spacious with queen beds (which cost a bit extra). There were some very nice touches such as a refridgerator, microwave, and bottled water at no extra cost. We also had a balcony which overlooked the lake. We sat there and watched the fireworks. There was a nice looking pool which we did not have a chance to use since it closed at 9:00 pm. This Holiday Inn was nicer than I expected it to be. We go would back.
Just As Expected

After reading all the reviews on this board, we decided to book this property. It was just as described. Very clean and neat. Great outdoor pool and indoor pool and activities. Nice views of lake george.
Only drawback was that you were not really in town - you had to drive. But after seeing the "town" it wasn't really worth being in anyway!
Do visit the Glen Falls Drive in. OTher than that - Lake George was a disappointment after lake placid.
Good Choice in Lake George Village

All of the reviews here really do decribe the Holiday Inn very well. We visited for 2 nights in late August with our 7 year old daughter and had a very good experience. We don't usually stay at Holiday Inns, but we decided to book it based on TripAdvisor reviews. The staff was very nice and we enjoyed the outdoor pool. There was a waiter working at the pool and we had a pleasant lunch there one day.
From the reviews here and from the hotel Web site, we could not tell that the Holiday Inn is on a busy main road and a little away from the village. But being away from the village turned out to be a good thing. The hotel is up on a hill and there really is no traffic noise.
It was our first visit to Lake George and we were surprised at how commercial it is in the village. If you drive up the lake to Bolton's Landing and above, it is much quieter. One night, we drove up to see the Sagamore (worth a visit) and had a nice dinner at the Algonquin. We also drove about 30 minutes to Saratoga Springs for dinner one night and that was worth the trip.
Very large and well equippped room

Room was very large, especially by Hoiliday Inn standards, and well equipped, including extra large bath towels. Excellent view of the lake if you get a room overlooking the pool.
Wireless internet worked vey well.
convenient location

Stayed at the Holiday Inn Turf during the July 4th holiday weekend. The room was clean, spacious and equipped with a small fridge and microwave. However, the bathroom was tiny with barely any space to move. The location is convenient to the Lake George village and most attractions.
Booked a standard room online and received the side of the hotel with NO VIEW. The room was on the first floor which faced a side of the hotel and a walkway. In order to have privacy we had to keep the curtains closed - the result no natural sunlight, we felt as if we were in a cave for the entire 4 day stay. Requested a change of floor but the hotel was booked for the holiday weekend. When you make a reservation for a std room make sure to request a higher floor.
Great family hotel

I chose this hotel after I read the reviews, and I'm glad we did.
My husband and I and our nine year old twins stayed at the Holiday Inn July 4th week.
We had a great stay. The room was very clean. We enjoyed the convenience of the restaurant for breakfast, the food and service were good. The indoor pool is very nice. The outdoor pool has a great view of the lake, unfortunately it was impossible to find lounge chairs. Our next visit we want to stay on the lake, but I think this is the best hotel
near the lake.
good place- not cheap

summary of 3 night stay july 4th with 2 adults, 2 kids------------- pros: very pleasant efficient check-in, excellent maintenance (reported safe issue upon arrival -was fixed in 5 minutes from call, big roomy rooms, clean, nice terrace or patio -small however (ask for room overlooking pool area if want view of lake-- note some rooms view obscured by trees), nice indoor pool area - looks new, nice indoor shuffle board area, good wifi, nice location although on busy street and not on lake have good views and 2 minute drive into lake george town( not a good walk however) and 15 minute drive to nicer town of bolten landing; best of all: very nice outdoor pool and deck-- pool no frills ( no slides..) but free form with very nice lounge chairs and new deck (pool service is slow) cons----------- expensive- $200 a night not cheap!!!!, small exercise room- very few machines, not right on the lake- to swim in lake must take a short car ride, overall poor quality of breakfast buffet - although kids free is nice. Would stay there again.

We enjoyed our stay in this hotel, we were travelling with our two childrens. The staff was friendly, our room was clean and nicely decorated, the restaurants, were great too. The pools where clean and always guarded by the staff. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in lake george, i will go back there on my next trip without hesitation.
Great hotel. Great view!

This was a very nice hotel and the grounds were well-kept. The check-in was fast and friendly. Our room was "typical" but the balcony and view were great. They have an outdoor pool and that area is very well-maintained and constantly monitored. It was also nice to be slightly away from the actual tourist zones (ie town, mini-putts, outlet stores) as it was a nicer setting and less busy. It was very quiet noise-wise, too. However, none of the above are far away at all so it's not like you're out in the boonies -- just far enough away that you can relax and enjoy.
If you're looking for a good restaurant, we went to the Montcalm which in on Rt 9 down by the outlet stores. Great food...FANTASTIC service. Yes, it's a bit pricier...but you get what you pay for and we did not want "fried everything" or a "pig trough buffet". This was quality food in a nice atmosphere with great service. And it wasn't very expensive at all -- especially when you consider that it was a tourist area.
Overall, the hotel stay was great and we would stay there again if we were in the area.
