Pine Hills Townhomes: Outdoor Lovers Dream- spacious rental
In the summer we seek cooler climates for our travels. Three weeks in New York State’s Lake Placid provides ample time to explore these exceptional mountains. Our rental unit in the Pine Hills Townhomes near the Railroad Station is within walking distance of the Village. An “Outdoor Lovers Dream,” http://www.vrbo.com/32296, is a three-story townhouse with 3 large bedrooms and 2 ½ baths providing lots of space. Numerous touches enhance the warm charming décor. It’s a wonderful base for our Adirondack and Lake Placid adventures.
The rental is decorated in a warm feel and well maintained. It was closest to the Railroad Station and some restaurants in that area. We did walk to town a couple of times but usually took the car. There were only two of us, but it would be a great rental for a family since it has the downstairs area with bedroom and separate family room. The owner was very good to work with. Keeps the rental updated.

Howard Johnson Resort Inn: Stay at Ole' Reliable - The Orange Roof
I came to this Howard Johnsons to eat dinner. For two, I paid $26.54 before tip, so that's not too bad.
They take credit cards, and although that's not unique, their orange roof is the only one of it's kind. It makes this place very hard to miss.
Howard Johnsons is a member of "trip rewards", which gives you points for each stay. They are in the same "club" of hotels as the Days Inn, Knights Inn, The Ramada, Travelodge, Wingate Inn, Baymont Inn & Suites, and AmeriHost Inn. So make sure you get your points, or register for your "frequent member card", because the stay you stay may be your free stay some day! :o)

Mountainview Inn: Cheap little pleasures..
The reception staff was nice, the place was nice, tidy..nothing special, but everything was in place and working aorder as it should.
The view was really nice so before going to the restaurant, we had a bottle of wine, looking out of the window for a really nice view of the lake, the mountains, etc..
There are no luxuries and the place looks really average, but if you spend more time looking out the window than you do at the furniture, you should be really pleased!
Again, the view!
For some reason though, they lock gates on top of the staircase so if you want to leave, you need to take the fire exit. If you want to get back in late, you need to have staff unlock the gate.
