Fall Foliage
by chrissyalex
Many people visit here during autumn to view the vibrant colors of the leaves.
Peak season is usually the last week in September and first week in October ,but this can vary from year to year depending upon the weather. The amount of rain, the temperature and wind can greatly affect when peak season will be.
You can check this website during autumn months for updates on how the foliage is progressing

White Face Mountain
by WillAntoniou
White Face was my best ski experience in the US. It is a really a huge mountain, with the biggest vertical drop in eastern America.
If you like to ski, I think you'll like White Face.
Many of the olympic skiing events took place here when Lake Placid had the Olympics in 1982 or something. skies or snowboard. there are also rentals of both at the mountain.
Lake Placid and the Adirondacks region

"Very Romantic!!!"
This is a perfect weekend getaway for folks living in the Tristate/NorthEast . But not to worry, if you have more time on hand, you will find more activities to do...
If you are visiting in winter/early spring, enjoy the snow capped peaks in the area (there are 46 peaks to enjoy and conquer). Then there is an array of winter sports to choose from. And the drives around the area are so romantic.. The route from Ithaca, through the Fingerlakes to the Adirondacks region is full of water bodies and in early spring, they delight you at every turn... Some fully frozen, some partially....And then of course there is the wine... Enjoy some of the best wine on the East Coast.
In less than freezing conditions, there are several cruises to take on the lakes in Upstate New York... And in the fall, hike and trek while taking in the glorious fall colors.
They held the Olympics here??!! TWICE??!!

This February, I went to Quebec to surprise my Mom on her birthday, not having seen her since my move to England. Wanting to change and explore rather than always going to Quebec City, we decided to go to Lake Placid, NY!
Lake Placid, peace in the Adirondacks

"Mirror Lake"
In the center of the Olympic village of Lake Placid, NY is the lovely "Mirror Lake". You won't need a magic mirror to discern why the lake earned such a name.
Reflecting nicely on a lovely town and area, Mirror Lake deserves a few hours of your time for a leisurely walk around its shores.
"Site of the 1932 and 1980 Olympics"
Signs of and pride in Lake Placid's two-time hosting of the Olympic games are everywhere in the village. However, the Olympics are considered just another part of the area's rich and gentle history. They do not define or dominate Lake Placid.
