Great place to stay

My husband and I are long-time travel writers who spend about 200 nights each year in hotel rooms. The Barton Hill Hotel is beautifully located overlooking the Niagara River in historic Lewiston, New York. The hotel opened in 2008 with old world ambiance. The large, welcoming lobby has inviting conversation areas and a wonderful model of the hotel. The staff is friendly and helpful.

The rooms are large – even the smallest Portages room have a queen-size bed and upscale amenities. They all have names associated with the history of Lewiston. The Retreat rooms offer electric fireplaces, flat screen, hi-definition TV, ipod docking station, and luxurious high-count Italian linens. Preferred rooms have a river view. Guests can choose accommodations with a shower, or a shower and soaking tub, or a shower and whirlpool tub. Internet, valet parking and breakfast are included. Enjoy breakfast of hot homemade egg dishes, scones and other delights on the upper terrace with a river view.

The hotel also has a full-service spa with extra large treatment rooms. The Barton Hill Hotel is a great venue for events and wedding. There is plenty to do in Lewiston – it is close to fishing, Fort Niagara, Niagara Falls, the Niagara Wine Trail, with many other interesting places nearby. The New York Post selected Barton Hill and Lewiston as Number 20 on a list of 100 top destinations within an hour by plane from New York City.
