This place was cozy and right on the beach. We figured we would splurge for an overnight stay off the beaten path. Our room overlooked the Atlantic Ocean. Here I am lounging on our private terrace.
Gurney's Inn is a Montauk icon. My parents came here before I was born, we stayed here as a family when I was a child and I have stayed here as an adult. Gurney's Inn has beautiful views and a cozy, relaxed atmosphere.
My last stay at Girney's we were in a cottage. The cottages give you the ultimate in privacy. The ocean views are incredible. The living room is huge and so cozy. The bedroom is fabulous with great seaside accents and relaxing sea spray colors. The tub is incredible and should be called a pool instead of a tub.
I did not stay in the Manor but did have a look at the rooms and the grounds. I found the rooms were quite nice cept the funny fish hanging from the wall. The room was like a loft/sweet, with the living area situated in front when coming in and a staircase to the bedroom on your left. After walking into the livingroom, there is a dinning and small kitchen area to the left. Past the livingroom is a door to the balcony.
The 3rd or 4th floor is said to be haunted. There is also supposed to be an underground tunnel that connects the Manor to Camp Hero
This motel is in an excellent location right on the beach, with wide terraces overlooking the water. The room I had came with a small cooking area.
However, be aware that there is an Oceanside Beach Resort as well as an Ocean Beach Resort. I was booked (through Expedia) at Oceanside... but was inadvertedly taken by the taxi to Ocean... They were happy to take my money even though they hadn't received my booking. I ended up paying for both. They would have known that there was another place with such a similar name. I feel they were completely unprofessional not to suggest I was at the wrong one, and ring the other to check on my booking.
Our stay at the Ocean Resort Inn was as expected - the service was friendly, the facilities and room were clean, the housekeeping was very good. the inn is located in town so it's close to the main street shops and restaurants, and if you know Montauk you know main street is very small.
no pool - grills in the main courtyard - view of the ocean from the second floor - good parking
