Maxfield Inn: elegant Bed and Breakfast
The fall of the year is the best time to book a room at the Maxfield Inn for three reasons: 1) the area is in the best color of the year; 2) the Inn has reduced rates for fall weekends; 3) the Inn is a chance to experience the elegance of the late 19th century.
Besides the antiques everywhere in every room and the peace and quiet of the neighborhood and the great views from the porch and balcony, you also get a free home-crafted breakfast that looks like something a land baron might have eaten. There is afternoon tea time too.
The rooms are cosy (a bit smaller than other B&Bs), the atmosphere is refined and peaceful, the service is top class. You have complete access to your room, the kitchen, dining area, den, porch, veranda, and the extensive grounds and garden.
Prices range from $120 to $180 depending on choice of rooms, amenities and whether you want separate or shared restroom. Prices for B&Bs in this area run a little lower than these prices but those inns do not have the character of this one.
