    Well what can I say about this resort, except absolutely phenomenal. I didn't get to stay here, its a bit pricey, but I was able to hike the trails and take a quick peek at the mountain house. The gate keeper was nice enough to let me in for an hour without paying the usual day pass fee, but don't hold your breath on each gate keeper being so kind hearted. If you can't stay the night, definitely pay the fee for a day pass and take advantage of the beautiful grounds

    The Mohonk Mountain House is a resort that is a nice retreat away from the hustle and bustle of the big city. The Mohonk Mountain House is on the National Registry of historic buildings. This resort can keep you busy for a few days. There are many hiking trails along with a flower garden.

    This place is meant for the well to do. One of the most expensive resorts in the Catskill Region.

    We've yet to stay overnight at Mohonk - the rates are pretty steep. However, we have walked around the grounds and roamed the quiet hallways of the 251-room mansion. You can just come for lunch (there's a decent buffet, with beautiful mountain views from the dining room) and stay the day - even enjoy afternoon tea on the porch!

    Mohonk is unique - a hotel set high up in the mountains, overlooking a pristine lake. There are no telephones or TVs in the 19th century-era rooms - which for some, is the ultimate vacation.

    You can hike up the trail overlooking the lake and even climb the tower at the top of the mountain (known as Sky Top, or Smiley Memorial Tower - it's an area landmark), for outstanding views of the Shawangunks.

    Mohonk – or “lake in the sky” - is a sparkling wonder, tucked away at the top of the Shawangunk Ridge. Rock formations rise majestically above the water, framing our enchanting, 265-room Victorian castle. The sight of this sprawling architectural wonder never fails to thrill us. We explored the mountaintop resort toured gardens, went on the lake, through the Victorian Maze, enjoyed high tea on the porch, and delish buffet meals.
